Survey says ..... !

Would like to know (from the guys on this list married to Latinas) - what their wives missed most after leaving their home country; was it family, culture, food, etc....?
Inquiring minds want to know.....  actually would be interesting to survey the latina opinion.  Also would the location they settle into matter (whether it's big city or rural); did working or studying here (eg. USA) or migrating with a child or children seem to lessen the 'homesickness', etc, ....

In my case, my wife is happier than the proverbial pig in... Why? After she was widowed, she had to send her 3 kids to live in Monteria with her mother. For four years, she was only able to see them 4 times a year for a week at a time. Now, her children are able to live with her and she does not have to work. So as far as she is concerned, even though she misses her mother and the rest of her family, moving here has been a godsend.

My wife misses everything, most of all family.  The plus side of marrying a Latina who had no desire to come to the US (or ability to survive here without me using a Plan B) is that I have someone who didn't marry me for the visa.  

The down side is she really never wanted to be here and everything is an adjustment. We shop at Food City which targets Hispanics and we eat virtually exactly what we ate in CR so I don't think she misses the food.  

She doesn't seem to notice much that our house is much nicer.  She misses her family.

I would speculate it is most likely family that they miss.  Latinas are a lot closer to family then Americans are.
