I was wondering
A: What types of music are currently played in clubs in Columbia?
B: How many wives come here and then have a real problem finding any music used to listen too?
C: If your spouse was into danceing a lot and you dont have any dance clubs worth going to, how do you work that out? Replace that activity with what?
Probably wont be a problem for me so its mostly just curiosity.

Others can respond better than I about what types of music are in the clubs in Colombia.  My wife and I only went to one club, Fandango, in Cali.  It played mostly salsa, merengue, and the Vallenato she loves.  I think other clubs also have Latin rock/pop and some US rock/pop and my ex, from Bogota, used to listen to trance and dance music.

In Dallas it's no problem finding any of that, except Vallenato which my wife wants the most.  We can find some on the Internet, but I haven't found any locally.  So, our solution is we can dance to Vallenato at home, which we haven't done much.  Maybe well put on a CD tonight.  We usually don't dance very long because once we begin she starts getting frisky and it leads to other things.

Steve,
I'm going to Cali in February for 10 days and one of the things I want to do is take dance lessons daily. Can you, or anyone else, recommend a good studio?

Thanks, Terrance

Just a note ... remember when learning salsa (in cali the dance of choice)it's the cumbia dance step which is done. Salsa is diffrent around the world in the USA there are about 4 main styles: LA style from California, NY style from NY, NY, Cuban style, and Colombian. Try "Let's Dance Salsa" DVD from Marlon Silva, he teaches the cumbia step. You can find it on Amazon. com

Terrance,

I'm not familiar with any studios.  But if you just want to learn how to dance, another option is to order some dance videos. I have one called "Learn to dance in minutes" by Cal Pozo. It teaches salsa and merengue. There are other vidoes available that teach the cha-cha and other Latin dances. You can order them at www.calpozo.com.

I hope someone else will respond because I don't know.

I would say that if you don't know how to dance Vallenato is very easy to dance to.  You more or less put you arms around her and step slowly to the beat of the music.  However, I don't know if it's very popular among younger ladies.  I think it's more of a older, traditional music.

That can be found on lower Mckinney on the weekends, however not currently as it's outdoors - come late spring/summer it'll be back.  BTW, Our country music has fascinated several of my Cali guests that were into Vallenato.

My wife (who loves vallenato) has developed a taste for country music.  I'm not a big fan, but some of it is good.

Thanks for the tip on Vallenato in Dallas.  I'll look for it next spring.  Is it a particular club?  You didn't mention a name, just lower McKinney.
