Hello All,

I have been a lurker here many years, but I don't post often. I have been married to a filipina for 14 years. We are now in the process of divorcing. She has moved in with another woman. Here is my question. How is lesbianism perceived in the Philippines. She tells me it is perfectly normal to do what she has done. What do you all think?

Hi Mac,

I wouldn't say that it is considered "normal", but homos and lesbos are tolerated much more in the Phils and among most of the Filipinos that I have known. They may giggle about it a little, but they don't seem to be overly concerned.

Where my ex-wife used to work, there was a lesbian Filipina couple and everyone knew about them. One played the roll of the “male” by dressing and acting male, and they even got married in some sort of church ceremony. Many of their Filipina co-workers attended the “wedding” ceremony and thought nothing of it. Weird…

Sorry to hear about your divorce.
