I just upgraded our system at home to Windows 2000 in order to support the new digital video camera we just bought. I found out that setting up the system for dual Russian/English use was a little different than under the Windows 9x/Me platform. Under 9x/Me you simply went into control panel, keyboard and added the Russian Keyboard layout.
Under 2K (and probably XP), you need to go to Control Panel, Regional Settings and add Cyrillic. Then you can go to Keyboard and add Russian.
One thing that's nice is that the IE browser automatically supports Cyrillic under Windows 2K, once you add Cyrillic under Regional Settings. Under 9x/Me, you had to add Pan European support into the browser.
One small thing I do is add a few cyrillic true type fonts into the Windows font directory. This allows Marina to copy a garbled email into the clipboard, paste it into Word, select all the text, and change the font to a Cyrillic font. It works quite well for her.
