Ran across this article via a link from "RussianWomanMagazine."

http://www.mediadefamation.org/

"Elenas Models," without permission, used to illustrate an expose on immigration scams in "Oz."

Russian Woman Magazine, English Edition can be found at:

http://www.mediadefamation.org/

The article is entitled, "Scam Against Russians."

Was the show broadcast here is the US or only in Australia?  Personally,  I don't know anything about Elena's Agency. Are they a Scamshop?

My understanding is that this is an Australian version of 60 minutes.  Maybe some cable channel provides it in USA and I imagine there are some satellites that catch Aussie. TV.

I do not know anything good or bad about Elena's.  I have no experience with them.  From what I read though, it appears that they got "smeared" by the Australian 60 minutes by being used as an example of a Russian MOB agency in a piece that is very critical of the motivation of some of the ladies seeking husbands in OZ.

The real culprit it seems to me is the legal system that treats the husband as guilty until proven innocent and that does not provide any consequences for the woman who is abusing the husbands.  In Australia, the article depicts, the bride gets a "green card" automatically  and quickly if she cries "abuse."  Even when the charges are proven false.

Sounds familiar, many of the stories I have read on this forum have a similar theme.

It is why I am taking my time and trying to really get to know my "special Russian lady" before doing anything I may be sorry for.  But, life is a gamble, isn't it?

Do you ever have anything to add about Russian or Ukrainian women?

just sitting around jamming with Randy Newman.

I am sympathetic with your genuine concern for "Russian or Ukrainian" women.

If memory serves, you're an attorney.

On behalf of Elena Petrova, I beseech you to champion her cause pro bono.

Ah, that explains the intense liberal streak in you.  Jam away - maybe you could go on a tour with someone inside of the FSU and come back with a nice trip report.

No, I am a veterinarian, a veterinary scientist at that - but I have learned that lawyers do have their place in our society (a place besides underneath ones boots).

as long as they're spayed or neutered.

But seriously folks...Lawyers are just people, it's the system that sucks.

As for the trip, I leave on the 11th for my fifth trip to the FSU, but don't hold your breath for a report.
