Today me and my Russain friend had one of those language misunderstandings.  It was about a song on a CD that I sent.  I sent the song "boat on the river" by styx.  It is such a cool song with sort of a russian folk sound to it... She loved it as do I...  Then as her and her so called English teacher were listening to the CD they found another song that they called beautiful.  It was called "Love in the Midnight"

So let me give you the translation to this song....

Love In The Midnight is about a man looking for a one-night stand late at night.  It isn't the first time he's done this ("And I know how, the street's been good to me"), and he cannot control his urge ("I feel the need and I can't stop myself" and "There's a burning in my body" as well as in the chorus, "Better hold on tight, I'm a ravenous man/I'll tell you anything to make you think I'm alright/You know the moonlight brings out the devil in me/For tomorrow, I'll regret it in the daylight"). However, he's questioning the effect this has on his soul ("It's gone too far..." and in the chorus, "Can you tell me where my heart is/When I'm looking for love in the midnight").

So I say is she playing with me or is this a misunderstanding?  It is the first sign that I have seen and let me tell you.  Ryan reads all the signs now days.  I wrote back and told her my feelings.. Much like I envision a KenC debates with his wife.. What ever.. But in the end I wrote to her the following that I thought was fitting...

Take me for a man only that you will meet yourself, take me for my words of friendship.  Take me as you will but only if you listen to your own heart.

Ryan,

I would not read much into it.  The key is when you go there and meet her.  Maybe she just liked the music and did not really understand the meaning of the words.

Maybe she dosn't fully understand the song? After all you do mention her "so called English teacher". So your friend hasn't perfect English skills yet I presume?

Reading some of the horror stories posted on this and other RW forums I think it can become too easy to get paranoid about the whole thing and begin seeing "signs" that ain't there.

BTW, The other day I heard my wife singing along to the Boy George classic " Come on Camilia"
