I am in the process of joining a colorado based marriage agency.
I have some reservations about it. First I think allot of those ladies want a well to do and older gentlman. I am only in my 30's and barely from the middle class. The owner seems to be honest, since I talked to him over 6 times about the agency. I hope I am successful since 1994 I joined over 20 single foreign agencies and written to over 600 ladies ages 21 to 31 years old.
I think to have above average looks and character. I laugh sometimes of the age differences between the man and women. I have experiences in finding a foreign partner.
I decided if this agency in Denver does not work out, to forget about finding a foreign wife via long distance.

Any comments E=mail me at Treibert@excite.com

Sincerely,
james

James, you say you have experience finding a foreign partner but then you ask very concerned about a particular agency.  I was wondering what is your experience in finding a foreign partner exactly???  Have you brought a lady or two over here on a fiancee visa and it didn't work out?  Have you met a few ladies in Ukraine?  If not, I would say that your lack of success is not due to your writing 600 ladies, your choice of agency, your amount of income, or your age, but rather due to the fact that you haven't met a good portion of the ladies that you have written.  I would advise you to not worry about the agency and all the rest but rather try to take as many trips as you can and meet as many ladies as you can and then try to win the hearts of the ones you like the best and hopefully one will feel the same way about you.  Things are often much different in person than they are over letters.  And letters don't go much past introduction until after you meet.

I doubt the women really are interested in much older men.  I think the agency owner is just telling the women that the typical man searching for a RW/UW will be in his 40s and if they advertise for a younger man, they will get few responses.  Plus, if they want financial security, they will find that more often in an older man.

On some agency sites you see almost all the women indicating that an older man is acceptable.  Russian women normally don't go more than about 5 years older than they are with a Russian/Ukranian man.  Some of the more average looking women on these marriage sites must know they cannot compete with all the beautiful women and accept older men.

James,

If the one agency doesn't work out, you will forgo the whole idea?

That is putting all of your eggs in a rather small basket!

Even if the agency is sincere, and has good women on the site, there is no guarantee that the woman for you is there. But that hardly means that you should rule out all of Ukraine!

Suppose you took that approach with local dating.

"I'm going to go to this one club. If I don't find a woman that I want to date there, I'm just going to become a priest..."

Or, "I will join Matchmaker.com. If I can't find a woman there, forget it."

"I'm going to join my singles group at church. If that doesn't work out, I guess I'll become gay."

OK... Maybe I exaggerrate a little.. but I hope you get my point.

The point is that it does take some searching to find ANY woman... be she a local gal down the street or across the globe. You can't try one small sampling and then quit. Not if you are serious about it.

Now, being "barely middle class" is a concern. Not for the woman... for you. Do you have the financial wehrewithal to make the search, and stick with it long enough to succeed.

I have compared this in the past to blackjack. You CAN succeed at blackjack if you A) follow a system, and B) have enough bankroll to withstand the temporary losses.

The question is: What do you want? The ONLY reason to pursue a woman from another country is if you have decided that the women from your country are not what you are looking for.

If you have honestly decided that... then you need to figure out what you need to do to make you successful in your search. If you honestly feel that a relationship with an American Women (AW) is not going to fullfill you, then you have NO other choice than to look abroad.

If you don't feel that way.. then save your time and money. Go date some more AW and decide. (For God's Sakes don't MARRY one, though. Divorce -- which is coming in three years -- will financially cripple you.)

Now... I have written all of this assuming that you are A) sincere, and B) not a "Loser". If you are not sincere... then I wasted my time. If you are a loser in America, you will be a loser in Ukraine -- the results will be worse though.

If you have specific questions, feel free to email me. My opinions are verbose, and free. The BEST advice ANYONE can give you... read the archives. A lot of guys on this board have accomplished what you are trying to. You will find their stories riveting and helpful
