I have been in Bogota for a week now and have stayed at the
B&B apt near Salitre Plaza owned by Bob Summers, an american who
has been here about 10 years. I stayed 2 nights in a private
2 BR apt at $45 per night then moved over to a room in the B&B
(same apt complex) at $40 a night. Both come with free breakfast,
Internet Access and a Vonage phone line to make phone calls to the
US for free! Also, someone calling from the us pays for the toll
call to a Miami number
The Salitre Plaza area is great and only 10 minutes from the
airport. You can call Bob at 305-433-2299 and he answers in Bogota.
If you mention Brazilpro he will knock $5 off the first night.
I know this sounds like a shill post but this is realy a good deal
and i want to pass it along. I stayed in 2 hotels before this and
after they add all their fees and pad the bill they came out
to more than $60 per night (without phone service and Internet)
Bob is a lot like Pete in many ways - eager to help a fellow american
while providing good value for the money. He recently sold his
marrriage agency but he works with the GoLatinNow agency in Bogota
(see link at top of page)and anyone staying with him will get about a
40% discount.
I hope to return to Bogota soon and stay about 3 weeks
so i can really get to know this city better. the apt link is
www.bogotacolombialodging.com but the best way is to call Bob direct
on the 305 Vonage line which rings in Bogota.
