I agree with you Patrick..

What was worst... as far as I am concerned....was the cable news channels 24 hours of...."he is almost dead" broadcasts that started on Friday morning.

They milked that one bad......in very poor taste in my opinion.

The lowest moment I watched of the "he is almost dead 24 news marathon" came in my opinion when an annoucement came from the church that stated something to the effect that the Pope had taken a closer move towards peace.

"What do you think that means his symptoms are now?" the announcer ask a medical doctor who has never EVEN EXAMINED THE POPE IN HIS LIFE?!.

Truly Pathetic.....................

Chris,

What it boils down to is it's news that will sell.  It's all about money with those news companies.  TV networks,radio talk shows, newspapers, magazines, etc. I used to be in radio and newspaper.  It's how they make their money; so they are going to milk it for all it's worth.  You are probably too young to remember when Kennedy got shot in 63.  We only had 3 networks in those days.  I was 10 years old when he got shot, and I still remember the news coverage.  That's all there was for days on end! But, naturally, it was a tragedy when a President or anyone is assassinated.  But, in this case, you had an elderly Pope who was slipping away over several days. So, the news crews just camp out, and on and on it goes.  We could all retire very comfortably on what they have spent over the last 3-4 days, just on covering this one story.
