Title: national geographic story on Medellin Post by: spsurfer10 on February 16, 2005, 05:00:00 AM I just received my new issue of National Geographic and they had an in depth story on Medellin. They describe how it use to be the murder capital of the world and even though crime has dropped over the past couple of years, over 2,000 people are still killed every year in a city of 3 million. They said that right wing paramilitaries and left wing rebels still fight for control of the drug trade in Medellin's barrios. They do mention that Medellin proclaims itself as the lingerie capital of South America and even had a picture of a modeling show. They break up the article into interviews with 5 different people. A top female cop who has death warrants yet will not be corrupted, a gang member, a prostitue, an upper-class mother and her daughter, and a child candy vendor.

I went to the local library to read this article and although interesting, I found it to be a rather one-sided "doom and gloom" report about Medellin. Sure, any city that size has its problems but there is much more to Medellin than the five mostly down and out they interviewed or focusing in on Pablo Escobar. How could they have left out all the positive things going on in Medellin and of course, the wonderful women that live there. On the other hand, stories like that might keep out some gringos that might have come otherwise leaving more of these lovely ladies for the brave few that venture to Colombia's second largest city. Ill have to get that issue since Im heading there soon. November 2004 National Geographic had a 6-8 page story on the Indians who live near Santa Marta (saw one when I was there), pretty cool. [This message has been edited by Hoda] If you're offered a bare breast.....DON'T KISS/LICK IT!!! Remember, a little while back about the knock-out drug laced boobs? Guys woke up later without their money or their shoes..... To paraphrase OJ's lawyer Johnny C...."If you don't know the tit, you must not lick" Title: Re: Adviso!!!!!! I must have missed that little juicy story. So, were these women hookers, and they lured their unsuspecting johns to a little triest, and then POW! -- with the knockout drug? Is that the way it went? What a deal! OkieMan Title: Re: do they show bare breasted natives???
