I always used FedEx from the US to Medellin. You can track the package and they never failed to deliver when they promised. I love FedEx!

I used UPS several times. One time I did put $500 in the envelopealso. The documents got there minus the $500.A lady at UPS told me Colombian customs opens everything, they got your money.I was lucky the documents got there.
It cost me$43.They say 2 day delivery,it takes 3.

To Costa Rica, I have used both Federal Express and UPS Worldwide service.  Both were reliable but UPS delieved a package is 23 hours from Phoenix to Heredia, way better that their promises.

To me the critical reason I didn't use US Postal Service was they would eventually place the package in the hands of the Costa Rica Postal Servive which is not the best way to insure it gets where its supposed to go.

I've sent very important documents, gifts, a credit card, and photos to Peru via USPS air, and had documents mailed to me from there as well.  No problems.

But I'm on the East Coast. Never had a problem with the NY office. Very friendly & helpful. You should still be able to use them, if you send your docs to the Miami office.
