Title: This is Margareth from Latin Encounters Post by: Margareth Mayor on January 07, 2005, 05:00:00 AM Hello everybody, This is Margareth. I think most of you know who I am for those of you who don’t know I was the owner of Latin Encounters for over 10 years. I am an older Colombian woman. I have written very few times in this forum before because I didn’t have enough time, I was busy doing matching couples together. I will continue to be with LE for a little while longer, and believe me, it wasn’t a job for me, it was a pleasure to me to help so many couples over the years and to see so many solid families form.
Ok guys, I have good news, I will be here more often now that I have more free time, and if my experience as the former owner of an agency or as a Colombian woman can help any of you, it will be a pleasure for me to keep helping. If you have any question, comment or maybe you need an advice to have a better relationship with any lady of my Latin culture, just e-mail me and I will write back. marg8316@gmail.com During these 10 years I have learned to know the cultural differences that separate us and bring us together at the same time, I have known the fusion of these cultures and the results have a success. During these years I have had the privilege to get to know excellent human beings, like women and men that have fulfilled my life and I am deeply grateful for their friendship. I will be here for you, Bye, Margareth Title: Re: This is Margareth from Latin Encounters Post by: zack on January 08, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to This is Margareth from Latin Encounters, posted by Margareth Mayor on Jan 7, 2005
Hi Margareth, I met you a few times but only briefly. You may not know who I am. My experiences with you were nothing but positive. Hi Margareth, You're a very great person. We've met, and discussed in the past. When you had Latin Encounters, it was a great place. I hope it will be the same as when you were there, but it wont be as special after you leave. I wish you and your family the best. Aaron P.S., Please don't believe that I'm self righteous, because I'm not. I use Dr. Aaron in my name because I am proud to have finished school this year. My education doesn't make me better than anyone in any way. Ph.d's come a dime a dozen, and VERY RARELY does their annual income reach 6 figures. Title: Re: Re: Re: This is Margareth from Latin Encounters Post by: Onephd on January 09, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: This is Margareth from Latin Enc..., posted by beenthere on Jan 8, 2005
Hi, there, just a few things for clarity. Believe it or not PhD's are not a dime a dozen. In fact many fields (especially busness)are reporting a shortage of PhD's. I know fields like English, Education, Philosophy, and Economics to an extent, have a surplus of Ph.D's. I "think" I have heard that the overall percentage ofthe population that have earned doctorates is about 5% For example, in Accounting this year a top starting salary including summer funding (granted these are few) is around 180K a year. The national average is more like 120K starting out. Finance PhD's earn a little more than that believe it or not. Law Professors make near 100K, You can go the AACSB for a report of the salaries in Business and visit the Chronical of Higher Education for a review of all salaries for PhDs. Thus I'm saying that your comments are true generally but there is a large dispersion among salaries for PhD's. You would be surprised. When you consider our work environment, freedom and control over our own time, its a great life. I'm not mad or trying to start anything. I think more of your comments were directed toward Aaron as a person than anything else. I've chatted with Aaron for sometime now. I always find his conversations to be insightful. I do think that many here have searched for reasons to dislike him. That is their choice. I respect their choice as this is a free country and this is an open board. Each man, woman is entitled to his or her opinion. very nice and respectful post onephd. Of course I don't think Dr. Aaron is in any of the catagories you speak of, ie., accounting, law, finance.....so as it pertains to him, I stand by my post. [This message has been edited by soltero] I am not attempting to speak for anyone else here, but I have noticed that you have posted more than once defending your profession, and I can understand that. I personally don't have an issue with PhDs in general, and I even apologized to Dr Aaron for the fact that he irks the hell out of me, as that is wrong on my part as I am the main one "preaching" about judging others. As you have surmised by now, I think that most of the negative comments directed towards PhDs are actually specifically in reference to one individual who seems to be the spokesman for you all, at least in the way he presents himself, and I am very glad that you, Brazilophile, and others are here to dispel the growing notion that PhDs are; self absorbed, self righteous, pious, holier than thou, pompous, intellectual snobs. I have not taken the time to peruse the archives, but I am growing more and more interested in doing so as psychology is another hobby of mine, and I am truly fascinated with the manner he portrays himself. I personally try to look harder for the good in people than the bad as we all usually have a mixture of both. I am going to back up off of Dr Aaron from now on as I am sure that he has much to offer minus his condescending "tone". But..."I do think that many here have searched for reasons to dislike him." I don't think so. Another thing I have noticed is the propensity towards explanation by professors and educators. I guess this goes with the job. I can understand that. It may just be an occupational perception due to spending so much time lecturing students, but most here (if not all) are obviously very intelligent in their own right or given fields as they have the good sense and the means to be looking elsewhere for their partners considering the current state locally. Maybe they don't need everything explained to them like they are still in school, and I think that many here could list a broad range of accomplishments as well, but I don't see them adding it to every post as a header or footnote. Yes I have wrote recently to defend the field as someone made a comment that I didn't agree with. Yes I know I do explain things (especially myself) to other to the hilt. I always have though, even before the PhD. ha ha ha ha. I like to think of it as using my talents for good and not for evil, ha ha ha ha.. Anyway, I hear, understand and respect everyones post. No harm, no foul, I hope. Title: Hi Beenthere.... Post by: Dr Aaron on January 08, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: This is Margareth from Latin Enc..., posted by beenthere on Jan 8, 2005
[This message has been edited by Dr Aaron] Is a six figure salary important to you? It's not to me. Bringing home seven figures net is something I have to worry about. Let me put it like this: during graduate school, I was bringing in $30 k by private consulting. Now, I bring in six figures with private consulting and my salary from my work. I'm also a partner in my family business which I help manage. My father has a landscaping company; 2 natural gas wells on a 15 acre estate in an upscale community of Murrysville, Pennsylvania; and has real estate that third parties bid on everyday, but can't afford. The family net worth is well into the seven figures. I am not trying to brag because money really isn't a defining attribute for me. Money cannot buy love or character. Character comes from love, self-respect, sacrifice, hard-work, and learning from wise people. You brought the issue up, so I decided to elaborate. Take care, Title: Re: Hi Beenthere.... [This message has been edited by beenthere] #1, hell yeah a 6 figure income is VERY important to me. I've been poor and I've been rich. I like rich better. #2, I congratulate YOUR DAD (not you) on his success. Hopefully you can follow in his foot steps. #3, I could give a flying f(%# about your family's net worth. #4, as I stated before, phd's come a dime a dozen. #5, I basically think you're a piece of caca. Anything else?? Title: Re: Re: Hi Beenthere.... Post by: Fuzzyone on January 08, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Hi Beenthere...., posted by beenthere on Jan 8, 2005

Margareth, You are not older, because if you are I am ancient. And then you go get a younger guy too! I don't know if you read the board the last couple of weeks ,alot was said about you because of the change over of Latin Encounters. Most all of it was positive. To me you are a person with a good heart and I personally have never known you to say something that was not true.I think you do your best.I think the loyalty alot of your girls have to you shows they trusted you to help them. So thanks for your friendship, and help, which included introducing me to my last girlfriend and introducing me to my current girlfriend. Margareth, You and I have never met; but I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for posting on this board. Many men on this board have known you, and most have spoken highly of you. For guys like me, it is unfortunate that the agency business in Cali is in disarray right now. I started my search for a latin bride around 2 years ago. This past August, I took my first trip to Cali. On that trip, I used Latin-Internet. I was very impressed with the possiblities, but nothing has happened yet. I plan on going back to Colombia in the near future; but I probably will be going to Medellin first. Then, if I still haven't found anyone special, I will go back to Cali. Either way, I am committed to finding a special lady for my life. Please allow me to state the obvious; that I am very attracted to latinas, as are all of the other men that post on this message board. However, I would say that only a small percentage of the men have had success, and found their true love. Maybe I should say, only a small percentage of the men who currently post here. I have no way of knowing how many men have been successful over the last several years. Hopefully, you can give us some prospective on this journey we are on. At any rate, I am pleased that you have decided to allow us to learn more about this process from you. OkieMan |
