Title: Bogota flights $384 roundtrip from LAX
Post by: valleydude on December 27, 2004, 05:00:00 AM
Hey gang,

I received an email today through Travelocity and TACA is sporting some round trip tickets to Bogota from LAX for only $384.
You have to travel by May and as I read the details it has to be purchased by today. (December 27, 2004)

Just thought I would throw it out there.

P.S.

(Lima was on the list too)

Title: How do I get from Bogota to Medellin???

It seems that TACA doesn't fly into Medellin.  How would I get there from Bogota, and how much can I expect to pay?

I bought RT airfare from Bogota to Medellin on Aerorepublica for $89.00 plus taxes.

On a side note, AA, and Avianca fly direct to Medellin from Miami.  Copa flys to Medellin also but with a stop in Panama.

You can get there on various airlines including Avianca, Aerorepublica, and West Carribbean. Some of them even fly into Herrera airport which is in the city of Medellin.

Just trying to figure out if this is truly a good deal if I want to visit a city other than Bogota.

Title: Colombia Pass special fares

there is a special fare for trips within Colombia offered by Avianca or whatever it is nowadays.  3 flights for like $140 bucks and 5 flights for $240    Important:  you MUST purchase this outside of Colombia.

the offer is for a circuit tour of Colombia.  For example, you can go to Cali-Cartagena-Bogota-Cali.  for 3 flights.  Note that legs of flights are considered 1 trip.  So if you go Medellin with a layover in Bogota and then Cartagena, that is 2 flights.  In Brazil brief stopovers are not deducted from the total.

Also, you also may not be able to use the offer to repeat destinations.  so you can't go Medellin-Bogota  then immediately back to Medellin.

Check the website for rules and details.  I noticed the one big difference for Brazil versus Colombia was that Avianca charged you a flight for a stopover while TAM did not.

Also, note that AA flies directly to Cali and Medellin in addition to Bogota via Miami.

Malandro,
Where are you finding out this info?  It sounds great, and it might help me to do some things I have been thinking about.  But, it must be something a little different than what I have already heard about.  I say that because I was told that you can buy cheaper flights once you are inside Colombia. Either way, I am trying to learn more about this and any stipulations involved.  Thanks

it appears that they do NOT charge you an additional flight if you must take a connecting flight on the same day.

however, it appears that this offer is only valid if you use Avianca to go to Colombia.  Still, it is worth investigating.  and it is only $120 and $220

Title: I have never flew in Colombia for less than $120

round trip certainly.  I may have gotten a one way for 70 or 80.   but 3 flights for $120 is unbeatable.

I never knew about this offer until I was checking on the Brazil Pass and wondered if Colombia had the same.   and there it was.

unfortunately, my discovery came 4 trips to Colombia and hundreds of dollars too late.  But I have spared you from the same indignity that I suffered due to my own ignorance.

its funny with the amount of info exchanged on this board this almost never comes up, but other inquiries for info such as agency recommendations, the superiority of Cali, and suggestions for identification and treatment of painful genital discharges are repeated on an almost weekly basis.

Air fares within Colombia are fairly cheap. Check out West Carribbean's web site: http://www.wca.com.co/
