Title: Hello ffrom Bogota #3 Post by: DOMINGUIN on June 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM Hello from Bogota #3 It's a little after 1:00 in the afternoon in Bogota, the strrets are packed and I had sat in an outdoor cafe this morning watching the women go by, quite enjoyable! I got a note sent to the agency from M, thanking me for the little wooden box I had given her and letting me know that she had enjoyed meeting me, but didn't think there was any potential in the relationship. I hadn't even called her again, so I would call it a pre-emptive "dump." I'm glad to know my little antannae were working correctly. I didn't think there was a future, it was too much of a stretch with her having 2 kids and not particularly interested in the US. So its on to the next one, a dinner with a 40 year old fashion designer tonight. Yesterday in Bogota, I met a Frenchman, a fellow from Paris named Jean Claude, 55, 5 years older then me who had been to Cali last year for 2 weeks, he looked about 45. We talked for an hour, he's divorced twice and left a mistress in France to come to Colombia for a couple of weeks. As he told me, "she has her life, i have mine." It seems that he is a "player", not really looking for a wife. He told me that he likes women who are 25 or so, and that he didn't see a lot of agency pictures of women in their mid to late 30s. I did get the sense that this guy thought a lot differently about women then I did and for him, being with a much younger woman was a reflection of his ego. But I decided not to got to Cali this time. I'm in Colombia for a month, have been here for 6 days, and will have a week left at the end to do something other then Bogota. I'm open to suggestions. Sounds like you're having a little difficulty finding a lady who is interested... Which IMHO is a little odd, given the number of available ladies in Bogota... Nothing negative about Odee, but I never had any problems of this nature at LAI... Not a plug, just the facts... You may want to give Nelson or Claudia a call at LAI and see what you can arrange... They have many new members in the 30+ age range that are very attractive... My wife and I were in Bogota over the weekend and we wandered down to Zona Rosa on Friday night... There was no shortage of beautiful ladies wandering around alone... In fact, there must have been a convention for beautiful girls that night... We had to stop in to our favorite restuarant for the last time in a few months... You are fortunate that you will be in Bogota for a whole month... Don't be discouraged... When you meet the one, you will know... Title: Villa De Leva Post by: Cali vet on June 11, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Hello ffrom Bogota #3, posted by DOMINGUIN on Jun 11, 2003
Try to find a woman in Bogota who has the time and inclination to do a little traveling with you and take the bus up to the colonial pueblo Villa De Leva. It's a really mellow and safe tourist destination with great hotels. Bring your camera! On the way you'll pass through Tunja, high up and nice and cool like Bogota. You can make a loop and return via Zipaquira and see the salt cathedral. Like I told Nico, Herman, owner of the Platypus guest house there is a good person to talk to about trips around Bogota. Certainly worth a visit if you need travel/activity info in Bogota. Glad you were able to hook up with Herman. The hostel can be a fun zoo with a lot of interesting travelers. I like the fact he'll store your luggage safely and w/o charge if you want to take off traveling for a while. Title: suggestions... Check with your local travel agencies in Bogota for special packages, then invite a gal to accompany you to check out something off the beaten path - Guajira, Nuqui, Tayrona, etc.. You'll have a blast, it's not that expensive, and YES it can be safe if done right. |
