regardless of what anyone thinks of the agency route, the spectical of the big TLC socials should be experienced if you've never been. What a blast. Yea, it's a zoo, but there are so many women around, all dressed to the nines. Unbelievable. And the commeraderie of the guys has been a pleasant surprise. I've been to Cali I guess 6 times now. And if I didn't just break up with my Calena, I'd be back for the tour for sure. Oh well, next year... Anzo Title: Re: I wish. I've been 2 of the past 3 years... The last time I went to a TLC social was in the summer of 1997 and there weren't any guys sitting around the lobby cherry picking the social or people from the agencies trying to get the women to join their marriage agency. But, I was staying at the Intercontinental last year while the TLC socials were going on. I talked to alot of the guys that were there and asked them if they would be interested in going to the agencies to see what is available to them in Cali. A few said yes but the majority by far would just clam up when they finally realized that I was not on the tour with them and that I wanted them to get in a taxi and go some where. I had a hard time believing that guys would travel all the way to Colombia and not go two miles in a taxi to see an agency that might help them in their search. My question is: What the heck do they tell these guys that make them so aprehensive to leave the hotel or have any dealings with people that are not on the tour with them. It really blew my mind when I saw thirty guys lineing up to get on a bus to go two miles to Chipichapi. I asked one of the guys why he just didn't walk out the front door and get a taxi. He said he didn't speak any spanish so he wouldn't be able to tell the taxi driver where to go. I said you would only have to say "Chipichapi" and it would be imposible to get lost because I think every taxi driver in the city knows where the Intercontinental is located. I remember being a little freaked out the first time I traveled to Colombia but I was traveling by myself. What I really want to know is in general where are these guys coming from. Are these guys really scared or am I coming across like a used car sales man? Or are they just indifferent to exploring other opportunities in Colombia? For most of the guys, it was the first trip to a place like Columbia and they listened way too much to the TV news. It's just rookie stuff, like hooking up with the 1st attractive lady that pays any attention to you. Just like in the US, when guys get together in a bar, the usual conversation deals with how hot the chick over there looks. The guys who go a 2nd time have all the fun. Anzo Title: Re: I wish. What about the Panama Tour coming up? A friend of mine is going. Panama doesn't get much coverage here. Title: went last year... Post by: anzo on May 21, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: I wish. I've been 2 of the past 3 ye..., posted by Cali vet on May 20, 2003
what a surprise. I've returned twice since last April. I don't care what the rest of this board thinks, the ladies at the Panama social were every bit as attractive as the ones in Cali, at least as well dressed, and for my tastes, which run a bit mixed race, a bit better. Easier to fly to, dollar is the currency, good dance club (Baccus, where it is hard to go home alone!) across the street from the hotel (Hotel Continental). A guy I got to know pretty well, handsome, successful, who had been to 3 Cali tours, said it was a better tour than any of the Cali ones. I'll go again this year if my time permits. Much more interesting place than Cali, which I think is a bit over-rated. Anzo Title: Re: went last year...
