Title: K-1 problems...Texas service center
Post by: Craig on January 26, 2003, 05:00:00 AM
For those of you waiting on answers from the Texas service center for your fiance's K-1 visa bad news. From what I read they still are working on cases from 10/11/2002. This has been the case for the last 3 months. The Vermont office is working on cases from December of 2002. The reason is mind boggling. They have not processed cases for over 3 months, they don't even have anyone working on them. It appears they have other priorities and your K-1 isn't one of them. I read that they won't start processing them again until February. They had no problem taking you money and cashing your check. Also here another issue they make you pay fro a service that the Vermont service does for free, cabling your approved K-1 visa package. Vermont does this for free Texas charges. This is unconstitutional and is unequal representation. If you have problems I suggest you contact your congressman.

It may have something to do with the INS being rolled into the new Homeland Security agency...

Just one more example of "red tape"...

Laguna Niguel just changed their processing time from 64 days,to 235 days. it almost seems like fraud, send out a letter with one date, and then change it later. what a bunch of idiots!!!!!! how can they go from 64 to 235 for the same case? of course they are happy to take your money. anybody have any ideas to make them do their jobs some time this year?

Typical! Typical! Typical!
I challenge anyone to name one(just one) d@m# thing that those yahoos in gov't do and do well so that their employer(we the tax payer) is happy, stealing money from us does not count, they have mastered that one. Does anyone know why it would take 64 days? Paper work stacked on some GS4's desk for the first 45 days would probably explain part of the problem, but 7 1/2 months to process per case, you could walk to Bogota and back within that time frame.

I guess I just think too much like private sector, you know, where you have profit as an incentive to get things done or your competition will have you for lunch. This is the kind of performance that you get from gov't and beaucrats when they have a monopoly on a service, oh, but no problem with seperating you from those dead presidents in your checking acct.

Short of calling or writing(e-mail)the office of your elected Rep. to get them to get some answers as to why this is happening, probably not much can be done. But you know,  some aide to this Rep. will have to check the campaign donors list to see if your names appears from the last election cycle as a contributor, you know, a little grease for the wheels of democracy! Sure makes things happen!

PS.You know those people that work at the front counter for the post office during lunch time, 5 to 7 windows are available, but there always seems to be only 3 people working when the d@m# line is out of the building, then just as you approach the front of the line one of them goes on a break. Same bunch as for as attitude toward the public, they work for Uncle Sugar!!!

Part of the problem is that the clerk in the INS office is most likely a GS-2 instead of a GS-4, and since nobody who can pass the GS-4 test will work for GS-2 wages, the INS is full of people who couldn't pass the test to get a 'real' job. Did you know that a Border Patrol Agent is (starting out anyway, for at least two years) a GS-5 and the guy who says "excuse me, sir, will you sign my book while I look in your brief case" at the Federal Building is a GS-7? INS has a long history of posting positions about two grades lower than the same position in other Federal departments. Although I don't know why they do, we all see (and suffer from) the end result, due to their incompentence, the illegals get in easily enough and legals have to wait..and wait..and wait.

... put them on a commission for work completed properly and don't pay them for work not done. Make them financially responsible for their own productivity and quality control - just like private industry. Don't hold your breath though.
