Title: Pictures of the Mighty Miho & Me Post by: Windmill Boy on March 18, 2003, 05:00:00 AM Hi gang
Well AOL cooperated with me today unbelievably, and I was able to put together a quick web page of the Mighty Miho & Me as I promised. Shhh don't get me in trouble though that I still call her by this nick name -- she doesn't like it. This is pretty much a collection of my favorite photos of her. http://hometown.aol.com/theobromac/Eric-Miho.html Windmill Boy Title: Your html Post by: lswote on March 19, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Pictures of the Mighty Miho & Me, posted by Windmill Boy on Mar 18, 2003
The html code on your page is doing your pictures an injustice as it is specifying picture sizes different than the size the pictures actually are so the pictures are either getting squished or stretched unproportionally. I don't know how AOL hometown works so maybe it is just the program you are using there that caused the problem, but I would think someone as big as AOL wouldn't allow such a fundamental flaw in their webpage program. Anyway, the html file Eric-Miho.html needs to be modified to either not specify file size and just let the browser figure them, or to specify file sizes either the same size as the actual sizes, or sizes that maintain the width/height ratio of the original picture so that the width and height are stretched or squeezed in equal proportions. Hmm Iswote Thanks for the technical advise I guess. But I must confess I am not up on my HTML Code. The extent of my computer usage this morning has been entering recipies Including Caramel nut tarts, how to make Graham Crackers, and Banana cookies into my database this morning ha ha ha. Fortunately, I am happy that I have been able to master my scanner program better than AOL Hometown program. I am proud that I was able to blow up the picture of Miho being Goofy by the boat from the original 1 inch image on the photograph to what you see on the web page with decent clarity. Yes the AOL program allows me to strech and warp th images in an uneqaul ratio. but I tried to retain some sort of truthfullness to the actual images yet make the Jigsaw puzzle fit together. Hell I'm just happy that the program allowed me to do this without throwing me off and losing every thing as it has done many times in the past on other project. Oh well live and learn right. Okay ... LOL .... I have to confess I never considered the "Jigsaw puzzle" aspect. I only offered my comment because I didn't know if you knew of it. I enjoyed reading your journal very much, though I came late and didn't read the first part where you met Miho. And your pictures are quite nice and even better viewed normally. ;) Title: Re: she's very pretty Post by: Febtember on March 19, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Pictures of the Mighty Miho & Me, posted by Windmill Boy on Mar 18, 2003

Ray Here was my idea -- Wait 10 years and grow a beard. dress up in a red suit and practice my ho ho ho 's. I could try my best to be the coca cola version of Santa Claus in Japan. heck I'd only have to work 2 months of the year and I'd rake in the yen! I suggested it to her and she said no no no - no beard. So I said how about my moustache ? I sent her a picture of myself with out it from 3 years ago and She said Oh I like it. So I guess you can figure out where this story will be leading to most likely in the future --- snip clip buzz. ha ha ha Windmill boy Title: Re: Pictures of the Mighty Miho & Me Post by: david hagar on March 19, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Pictures of the Mighty Miho & Me, posted by Windmill Boy on Mar 18, 2003

Beattledog Glad I could help. As I mentioned before Iv'e had the best luck in meeting Japanese women through penpal boards. As is commonly mentioned here It may be a good idea to save some money and go for a trip to see if you like what you see. Remember it is a cultural package deal. I don't know where you are living but if it is a decent metropolitan area place an ad in the local paper to see if there are any Japanese women in your area who want to just talk casually. My friend Masami in LA helped me out alot by correcting my poor Japanese, informing me about Japanese Culture, and even introducing me to a friend in her home city who I had a nice time meeting though it didn't work out between us. She has turned out to be a great friend ultimately. Go for it! I have read all your posts and really appreciate that you have shared your trip details with the board. It was very entertaining and I learned ALOT about Japan and its people. I really liked the summation and your final thoughts as well. Miho is definitely a cutie and, by the way you described her personality, she is a great catch. I hope things work out between you two... Good luck, Joe Title: Re: Hey WB... Post by: Windmill Boy on March 18, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Hey WB..., posted by Kreeger on Mar 18, 2003
Thanks Joe Glad I could spread a little light on Japan. Though I've only experienced maybe 1 % of the culture myself I find it very interesting. So far it is going quite well between us with a few minor bumps to over come -- to be expected. But she is quite receptive to coming over for a visit for a week maybe this summer. Looking forward to hearing about your upcoming visit and marriage in the Philippines too -- Congratulations. Yes Ray While the models for the Japan airlines ads and other japanese ads might be stunning and Jaw dropping. What good are they if they have the personality of cardboard. Goofy and spunky sure keeps life interesting. Windy |
