Title: Can you take pets from USA to Ukraine?
Post by: Frank O on June 07, 2005, 04:00:00 AM
Well things have NOT worked out. They have improved CONSIDERABLY but however the bottom line is it doesn't look good long term. I bought my wife a doberman (not THE doberman) & she wants to take it back. I know Continental (the airline her tickets are under) flies pets however I'm NOT sure what the rules are for INTERNATIONAL travel.
I'll probably go to the airport tommorow & ask but does anyone know right off the top of their head?
Also she plans on returning in 1 month but I honestly do NOT see THAT scenario at all.

It's not leaving the US, but entering Ukraine with the pet.  There's a lot of paper hoops to jump through and vacinations.  I don't remember where the requirements are listed, but try the below sites:

It appears there is some documentation required -- maybe some quarantine time -- click on the "Animals and plants" link near the bottom of the below link:

Not sure about leaving the US, but entering the US there seemed to be little issue with the puppy boxer dog I saw one trip. The airline (LOT I believe) even allowed the puppy to stay in the overhead luggage area (the puppy and cage fit in a carryon bag.)

Continential is probably different, bt i do not expect too much of an issue.

Good Luck.
