Title: Anyone experienced with PayPal
Post by: Albert on March 07, 2005, 05:00:00 AM
I have never used paypal, but I am thinking of using it to fund some monthly fees to match maker web sites.  I have done this before with credit cards, but some of the websites make it difficult to cancel and want to keep charging your credit card forever.

As I read the PayPal info, they only send payments to a business when you tell them to.  You put money into your PayPal account by giving PayPal a credit card number.

But then, am I just trading one problem for another since PayPal may start charging amounts to my credit card that I didn't want them to.

Apparently PayPal is widely used to buy things on e-bay and such, but I have no experience there either.

Those of you who have actually used PayPal, please give me some input.
Thanks.

I've used it extensively for four or five years and never had a problem. I have an internet based business and people pay me from all over the world using Paypal. I also use it to pay for purchases from other on-line businesses and ebay auctions, so I have two accounts.

How were you planning to use it? Any specific questions you have?

I used it for 3 years without any problems. They do shut down your ATM every once in a while if you are traveling. But all it takes is a phone call to get it up and running again.

PayPal can access credit or debit cards, thus some transactions may shut down your use of ATM until you verify account info. PayPal also now issues credit cards.

I have used it extensively without problem. I have it linked to my bank and never use a CC other than as a backup funding source.

Your acount will be free but if you want to accpet payments from someone using a CC you'll have to upgrade to a "premier" account. That means they'll nix you a small percentage of every transaction made. I've never had a problem but when you do I'm told it can get sticky and your bank account can be frozen without regard to the situation. There is no shortage of naysayers, Google paypal and you'll see. Here is the biggest group: www.paypalsucks.com

PayPal does SUCK. I lost $787 on one transaction using their service and then following their advice when problems developed. Never again will I use anything connected to that bunch of low lifes.

After and the transaction was thru ebay. Paypal was of no help at all. Any pertinent info about the other party has been kept from me. PayPal cares nothing about it's customers, other than their fee. I could go after ther offending party with a commercial lien if I had the particulars on said party, but there are 30+ people by the same name to be found on some of the people search engines.
