Title: After 4 years of marriage... Post by: T P Cornholio on March 29, 2004, 05:00:00 AM it's finally come down to it. She now claims her engagement ring is too small -- damn QVC and HSN.

Just had our 4th anniversary 2 weeks ago. Bought her a gold necklace...she loved it. Broke 2 days later, returned it and got money back (since it was the last of its kind). Now she wants me to use the money to buy an elliptical trainer (like a cross country skiing machine?) so that I can drop 50 or a 100 pounds. I guess a thinner me will look better on her arm than gold on her neck (LOL). Stevo Title: Nah, she insists she prefers me "chubby"... I bought one last year, they are great - much better than a treadmill or stationary bike. But I recommend that you go for one of the higher quality models. They aren't cheap but everyone I know who bought a cheapo model has regretted it because they quickly broke. Personally, I recommend one of the Precor brand models, also LifeFitness. The 'upside' benefit of eliptical trainers is what they will do for your lady's 'backside'. Title: Re: After 4 years of marriage... That's too funny! I have two words for you: Synthetic Diamonds. Undetectable for the real thing, and hundreds of dollars cheaper. They even cut glass. About five issues ago, Wired magazine did a cover story on them, incuding listing the two guys who are heading up companies to produce them. One of the guys is actually "growing" diamonds (sort of like how they culture pearls... or the same general idea) meaning that they really are diamonds -- just man-made. FWIW. Go to a ring store, buy a new setting with nice stones. Go to a used stone seller who buys older stones. Buy a SI -1 and have it set. She will love it and you will have done it for a 70% discount on new. Title: Re: After 4 years of marriage... We bought it in a little shop in Kyiv. We put on a show while in the store: at the time she kept saying it was too expensive and was pulling me over to the zirconias, I kept pulling her back over to the diamonds. I insisted on buying her a diamond ring, not merely a zirconia. Hmmmm, but then again, she is from Lugansk. |
