You can do a google/web search on the best rates for 10-10 or 10-15 plans. You can do the same for calling cards and compare. I use 10-15-335 but they have several plans under that general number. The one I use has $0.10 per minute to Russia (not just Moscow) with a 10 minute minimum. There is also an 11% tax on top of that. No other monthly or connection charges. The 10 cent rate may have changed for new subscribers -- they honor the rate you signed up under. This service has good clean connections and no hangups. In the beginning, I had poor connections and about one hangup per 30 minute call so they have improved the service. Be careful with the 10-10's. Some of them have some hidden charges that really nail you. Personally I prefer the prepaid cards (http://pointme.to/expresspin is the one I use). The new Voicer Over IP companies that are sprouting up (Vonage, Net2Phone) seem to have good rates internationally. Not sure about their quality though. I have sometimes had trouble using Net2Phone to Kiev: sometimes the calls go through no problems, other times I couldn't get a connection. I stuck with them because of the rates, but had a backup card from another company. My experience is dated, but might be useful. I used both 10-10-220 and 10-15-335 to call Simferopol, Ukraine, and found the latter substantially cheaper. The only problem is that Ukraine phone system is old and not always reliable. 10-15-335 to call Ukraine costs 18 c/min, 10 minutes minimum. There is no hidden cost. |
