Title: Do Ukrainians celebrate Halloween?
Post by: Frank O on October 08, 2003, 04:00:00 AM
Just curious. It turns out I MIGHT be getting married on either Halloween or All Saints Day. Pretty strange last time I got married on Thanksgiving.

In an off-beat way...The kids get dressed and colored and knock on your door but they do it on NEW Years EVE...

I'm not 100% sure, but I suspect that they don't.  If you want to introduce this holiday to you friends in Ukraine, take some background information along.  A brief history / explanation should suffice.

They already celebrate WAY too many "holidays"!!! They would just use it as an occasion to try to get me drunk on vodka.

to a girl who asked me what a neat costume would be and I suggested a "fairy" with wings.   I think she was going out to a english/western club and needed a outfit.

I'm sure if they've watch our movies, they know what Halloween is all about.  But the notion of handing out candy to stangers would be very strange over there indeed.
