I claimed that some months ago, that the Russian economy was growing. As a response to that post I got a lot of bashing.

This summer we had the pleasure to have many visitors from Russia. I asked them about that. Do they notice in any way that the Russian economy is growing? Not so much in their salaries, they said. However they pointed to the fact that there are two good leading indicators on that. One is the growing amount of shops in Russia and the second is the growing number of magazines. Somebody must have money to do shopping and somebody must buy those magazines.

In my previous post I pointed to fact that  the  Russian middleclass is growing, and what my visitors said mirror that as they all belong to the new Russian middleclass.

I was in Moscow in August... and they are building stuff like mad there... I saw lots of cranes and new high-rise apartment buildings going up.
