Title: scammers site Post by: europete on July 31, 2003, 04:00:00 AM Never having seen any information about this web-site on this board before, I wanted to post it for reference for all who might want to see it.
The web-site address is: http://www.uaprofiler.com Title: Re: scammers site Post by: Streetwise on August 01, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to scammers site, posted by europete on Jul 31, 2003
It is spooky that the vast majority of scammers listed are from Lugansk; this city seems to have become known as a hot-bed for this kind of fraud. But why Lugansk more than Donetsk, Kharkov or even Kiev itself? Any ideas? Could it be that, if these scammers left a trail to follow, most of them would lead to the same individual or gang which happens to operate from there? Obviously there is a link with organised crime, and clearly those who get arrested are only halfway up the tree but would rather "carry the can" than suffer the consequences. Europete - I've been screwed (metaphorically) from Lugansk, but only minor damage and it was a calculated risk. Maybe all the scammers on their site really are proven scammers... it would certainly give them the stamp of credibility. Watch out for the launch of uaprofiler's new Introduction Agency service (once they think they've convinced us that they have our interests at heart!!) Title: Fwiw.... ...most of the scammers on that site are lifted directly from other scam sites, the profiles are identical right down to the sample letters. While many profiles have no evidence against them at all a few are real scammers because I'm personally familar with two of them. In fact, I dated one of these girls almost every time I went to Ukraine. Even met her in Rome one time. (No marriage interest, just some mutual exploitation going on.) She was decent enough back then, just a little cynical towards foreign men because she'd been hurt a few times. Can't say I blame her for finally crossing over to the dark side. Last I heard from her she told me what easy prey men are when it comes to a beautiful face and body...and man, did she have both of those. (She also mentioned Americans were the easiest to snow.) She was one of the reasons I quickly became wise to the FSU "charm". Also fwiw, the chief investigator of this firm is a woman. I've spoken with her a few times. They're real, whether they're legit remains to be seen. Dan's right though, it'd be a first for this kind of "help"...for them to successfully open a criminal case would be a milestone to say the least. Title: Now Let's Think About That . . . Somebody decides that he/she has seen enough of the scammers from Luhansk (majority of the listings and the address of the company is Luhansk) 'ripping-off' western guys so he decides to expose all the 'bad girls' of Ukraine. Hmmmmm - do you suppose this guy is - oh, I don't know - say 6'6" and 300 # ?? Or maybe he is well-connected with the local mafia organization. But wait - the local mafia organization would have no problem with western guys getting ripped-off - so that leads us to - oh, I don't know - maybe the Militsia. But wait - the militsia doesn't care about a few western guys getting ripped-off. Heck - both the mafia and the Militsia would be getting in on the act if there were any money in it. For that matter - aren't the mafia and the militsia one in the same anyway? Wow - well where does that lead us? Somebody wants to expose these bad girls (scammers) - and they live in the same city as many of the bad girls - but they probably aren't connected with the militsia and probably not with the mafia. Now maybe he is 6'6" and 300#, but last time I checked - a 200 grain hollow point makes just as big a hole in one of those guys as it does in a wimpy guy - maybe even a bit bigger. And if he creates enough of a problem for all the 'scammer' girls, I wonder if they wouldn't hire one of their mafia boyfriends to have a 'talk' with this guy. Well - you get the drift. Sorry for the sarcasm guys (esp you Europete - it's nothing personal) - I just don't see this as a viable business venture in Ukraine, hence, (as you can probably tell --smile--) I highly question the validity of the information. What brought this site to my attention is seeing a letter they sent to a girl in Kherson informing her, in their letter, that she had been placed on their site as a scammer. Since I personally know her to be a lying scam-artist who has taken more than a few dollars from foreigners with the 'need money for a passport, visa, and travel tickets to come to see you' scheme I tend to believe what this web-site says. And she tried to get $500.00 from me with her phony sob-story. So I have no reason to think negatively of them.
