Maybe, if I'm in Italy or Bahrain this winter I'll make a brief trip over to find out how cold it really is and get the snowflake and slush angle. [This message has been edited by Richard] I am aiming for next spring. I got downsized, with two thirds of my department, two years ago and it's taken me a while to build up vacation time: I get two weeks after two years on the job. Title: At this rate?.... Though, I must admit if I go over I'm going to go on a photographic journey first and for most. I'm dying to see the country side and the villages along the way as well as the 4 corners of Ukraine and possibly some of Russia. If anything, I'm going to do it the way uncle Jack did it. By going over a couple of times and really meeting alot of women. The whole notion going over one time and marrying the first one you meet is insane. I certainly don't want to marry a city girl, as I'm a hick in the sticks. The girl I'm lookin for can churn her own butter and grow tomatos and sugar beets. So the whirlwind approach isn't going to be my route. I would like to go meet Marty and his wife and check out any friends his wife might have. All I know is this evolution is going to take some time. I've got all the time in the world. It's just going to take me some time to build up some cash reserves. It's a shame I sold my favor stock: SNDK at $15 only to watch it go up 3x in the last 3-4 months. Oh well. But, I've kinda written off the stock market for a time to come. ...big fella, not like you to get wound up over a bozo like this. You need to be more tolerant...like me ;-) BS is only doing what he knows best. Ain't his fault ya know, consider it Darwinism at it's finest. Just be thankful he can't bring one over and muck it up for the rest of you. Besides, anyone who doesn't realize now is exactly the time to be putting money into the market isn't going anywhere... The bear market is still intact, we're just in a mini rally, which is unsustainable. A great market for shorts, the summer time is when people are the most optimistic - plenty of summer jobs, etc... come winter and the Christmas season the markets will go back in to hibernation mode. ...but you'll forgive me if I don't accept investing advice from a guy so poor he squeaks when he walks. I'll let ya in on a not so little secret: Investing in the market is a longterm thing. Ever hear of dollar cost averaging? You think stocks will be in the toilet forever? Better study yer history... You think my house cost $250k and I'll have to buy a double wide if I lose my job? Lol, you couldn't buy an outhouse where I live for $250K. And mine's paid for to boot. Do ya think all that happened because I took financial advice from people with net worths approaching zero? Did it ever occur to you you're where you're at today because of decisons you made (or didn't make) in your past? And examining that process reveals your future? Wise up my friend... I recently spent a month in Ukraine doing exactly what you want: wondering the country hither and yon, handing out fistfuls of dollars wherever I went. You know what kind of fun that brings? Babes aplenty Billy, with no strings attached. (Watch for it coming later this summer to a small screen near you.) You on the other hand can't even escape Hazard County. Jeez, no wonder yer crackin up. Oh well, say hello to Boss Hog for me... I didn't say tomorrow the market was going to crash, but it will in time. Your not taking my advice, but I'm just repeating what A. Gary Shilling, AB & PhD. sez in his book "Deflation". I think it's great your house cost $250K, I sure hope it's paid for free and clear. And your property taxes aren't very high along with your insurance etc... Gee where I live at a 250K home could be a really big home, but I know in Memphis and St.Louis a 250K home isn't much more than a 3bedroom/1 bath and maybe a garage. I had some heady stock gains from some tech stocks, which esentially was the reason for my trip to Ukraine. When I went to Ukraine I had no notion what so ever to find a wife. I think Reba McEntire has a song called "fancy", which just might explain it. Anyway, my trip was one to just explore. Glad you were spreading good cheer on your trip, though I wasn't one to hand out money to strangers - which tends to make people lazy and make people think all Americans are rich, like those gypsy kids that run up to you with gold teeth and asking for a handout. I just hope your going to take your time in finding a girl. As I said before the economy isn't going to crash all of a sudden, but it will take time a slow errosion process over the course of time, my guess is 4 years from now. Title: Sigh... Hey LP, my dough has gone into condos, appt.bldgs, and things that I collect 10% per month on. Plus the Shelby has shot up to....well....alot. Then, there's always rare art, if you have the "gonchas." \ PS: Looking at at a Cirrus roller skate (185 is plenty fast for me) and now seems to be the time...but could really use a Gulfstream for every day use if it can get me to the UK (England) before "God gets the news."...but unlike Thurmon Munson, I know my limitations. Cheers!!! Title: Got no........ Post by: LP on July 21, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Bye the Way.............., posted by Globetrotter on Jul 21, 2003
[This message has been edited by LP] ...gonchas (nor culture) for real art, outta my league. Was into a little real estate years ago, wish I'd kept it now. (lol, maybe I need me a couple 'o doublewides.) Can't complain though, the personal shack has done pretty well. The D car is holdng it's own but it's certainly no Shelby. The L39 on the other hand...but I gotta share that with two other guys. Yeah, Thurmon really screwed the pooch. Too bad he took some of his buddies with him. I get pissed when I see innocents lost by stupidity, it happens all the time. Those early 550s are easy to handle too, just shows how inexperienced he really was. Good luck on the Cirrus, get the 22. I keep tellin ya though...chutes are for puzzies. ;-) Title: Re: Got no........ Post by: Globetrotter on July 21, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Got no........, posted by LP on Jul 21, 2003
I'd pull the rocket handle to fire the chute in a "New York Minute." A Chicago Woos!!!!!!

I don't buy rare art either....(well, maybe a few sculptures) cars are my gig. BTW....... Thurmon had 450 hours total....50 in his Cessna. Unlike John K Jr.....I'd bring a pal more versed than me....or put on the wing leveler, climb, and wait, and sit back...what's the hurry? Funny, even though you ....let's see..."anger people," you have a good message. As "smart" as I think I am, I can still be taken...but then, I'm just a Moe!!! Title: Re: Easy there.... Right you are....how could I get so wound up over a "TN Goat Roper" and not have a good laugh. It's just that I've not seen such shi.t for a while. Plus, after Warren Buffet bought so many double wides, I think I'll buy 10. Don't you think he'll do well when he brings his FSU hottie here to water the tomatoes? Talk about a Moe for a card shark. He should talk to our "super hero...Las Vegas pal...macho tough guy...who marries gals with tatoodles, and can pull my heart out of my chest for insulting him"...who would have much in common!!! Have a good week!!! Title: Goat Roper.... Post by: LP on July 21, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Easy there...., posted by Globetrotter on Jul 21, 2003
...lol...thats rich. Yeah, if only BS would use his "genus" for good instead of evil. And forget about our pal in Vegas, you need to worry about some FSU succubus pullin the heart outta your chest. ;-) You have a good one too... Title: Re: Goat Roper.... You are the voice of reason here. You piss people off by telling them of the pitfalls of this endeavour. Your voice of "reason" seems to fall on deaf ears here. Funny, when I started over 2 years ago, I thought a 34 year old for a (then) 50 year old, where everything works and nothing hurts, was a dream come true. Now at 51, I look at a potential "squeeze" as 46. True, I hope she has Mom's values and virtues...but you never know. I was a "watcher/reader" for a year before I ever had the "gonchas" to post. Yours were the most informative. You had met "squeezes" in many places, and, Jimmy from Ukraine said the same, yet many here believe in the "Fairy God Mother." What gives? Certainly, people can't be so blind that they can't see the card sharks and visa whores. Personnaly, I adore my Russian girl, but have been burned before for a great deal, and am therefore cautious. How others who have been through the same (as you might have been) can't see the same, baffles me. Even though some consider you a prick, I, for one, thought your diatribes worth heeding. Keep posting....as someone may still listen. Like you, I am not needy, but simply look for someone to add to what I have, and buttress that. When I find this, I will act. Title: Really?... ....I piss people off? A prick? Honestly, I had no idea. Maybe it's more a problem with the delivery than the advice. I think yer wrong on one thing: 34 is just fine, I met lots of women in Ukraine who felt that way. I do believe the best ones are older with kids though, nothing like being a mother and ex-wife living in a suck enviornment to cleanse the soul of youthful mischef. Yup, funny how those who have gone through getting taken can't wait to get into it again. Ever notice how most MOB guys are fairly recently divorced? It's The Power, that and they don't give it enough time to see the alternatives. Trust me, they'll never listen. Until many of them get past the trophy wife thing they'll never learn. As long as there is a pretty face in combination with an insecure and lonely exsitence they'll continue to flock like lemmings to the FSU cliff. (Our boy from TX was a perfect example of that, other than the pretty face ;-) I've never been taken, was way to young to have anything to lose in my only marriage. Since then it's been a little pain at times but I've never lost a cent. They simply walked away. (Or I did. Funny, I most remember the times I did the hurtin' then than the other way round...must be the softie in me.) Thank God I didn't marry any of them even though they were all Heaven in the begining?...lol, sound familiar? Everyone sez we never hear about the successes. Well, we don't hear about all the bad ones either. I know of two well known posters here who did everything right and now they're getting raped by the very women they were so sure about. They prefer to keep quiet and I don't blame them because they'll only be told it was their fault in some way...what BS that would be. Hey, I'm needy too. Believe me, I bleed just like the rest of 'em. But *this* needy? Nope, not yet. And not for what I've seen available versus the risks. Got it too good now anyway. I may keep my hand in it but I've learned way too much to be "russian" back into this game too quickly. Guys who are really loaded certainly have too much to lose by marrying a FSU lady who they hardly know. It's safer to find a woman who is also wealthy. Common sense. Here's a confession: my fiancee's financial situation beats mine! And of course she knows this. Neither of us is wealthy, BTW. Although I don't condider myself a rich guy, just a hard worker, I disagree with you and your perception of an FSU squeeze and someone who has more than a goat roper.
