and increased my contacts. It is a very needy place. As
always I experienced culture "shock" (bad word because way too strong) going *and* returning. I never get used to how much more sophisticated *acting* FSU people are, but how much more friendly Americans are; how in shape they are, and how fat Americans are; how much we take for granted, and how much they assume about the rest of the world, including America, that is so inacurate. Kiev is making a
tremendous economic recovery, but the rest of the country is
still in decline. I spent almost two weeks in one of the the far eastern oblasts and met hundreds of people, and then several days in Kiev. More memories for the soul. Best regards. WmGO
