Title: looks like Mexico will not issue a visa Post by: Robert D on June 23, 2003, 04:00:00 AM to single Russian women. Has anyone had any luck with the Bahamas, or one of the caribean islands, ie Jamaica, Barbados, etc. Most non American and Brit islands say no visa needed.
any help appreciated. Robert D. Title: Re: looks like Mexico will not issue a visa Post by: robobond on June 24, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to looks like Mexico will not issue a visa , posted by Robert D on Jun 23, 2003
RD, I considered Jamaica because there are no visa requirements for FSU women... BUT, get ready for the big BOHICA: Air fares from Moscow were well over $3,000 when I last checked about 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Accomodations were also at bend-over rates... If I recall, the total nut on the whole trip was figuring out to easily be $7,000 or so... do the math. My Ukr. wife and I just got back from the Dominican Republic, where we met up with our daughter who is a Ukr. resident. Because she's 24 and single we were limited in places she could meet up with us. The D. R. is a perfect place to meet Ukr. citizens: no visas required. Daughter flew from Kiev to Amsterdam, then non-stop to Punta Cana. It was so easy. You guys looking for an alternative to meeting up in Uk. or Rus. might want to think about this option. The cost for her flight was about $900 round trip. Resort with all inclusive pkg. was another $700 for her week. Fabulous experience..No hassles whatever. The key is that the visa is for a Russian citizen, not a US citizen. It is the citizenship that matters, not where you live.... Title: ? Post by: tfcrew on June 26, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: That's odd, their people don't seem..., posted by Alfred on Jun 24, 2003
Perhaps I wasn't quite clear as to my allusion concerning the enormously, seemingly unrestricted major influx of Mexican migrants into this country. Perhaps where you live (you don't mention in your profile), this is not a problem...yet. Title: Re: ? Yes, I did pick up on it. Down here English is a second language and considered optional in many communities. My bank thinks I want to use the ATM machine in Spanish! Of course, that's not a problem, is it? I was commenting on the fact that the thread started with a post about Mexico denying a visa to a RW. Title: Bummer.... Ladera Resort or Anse Chastanet. Title: Re: Bummer.... Post by: Robert D on June 24, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Bummer...., posted by Frank O on Jun 23, 2003
Well it looks like many of the independent islands like Barbados and Grenadines are easy, though she would have to fly through the US ie Miami first. I am told there is a waiting area for transits. Has anyone gone to the Bahamas with success with a lady from Russia? Robert D. Title: Re: Re: Bummer.... you might also be able to connect through london as many of these islands are former british colonies. Title: Re: Re: Re: Bummer.... Post by: Robert D on June 24, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: Bummer...., posted by Alfred on Jun 24, 2003
Good idea, but Frankfurt or Paris are less confusing I suspect as London is scary I am told. This is her first time flying and she will be alone, so I want to make it as simple as possible. This is why in the long run I may just meet her in Paris and that will be it. Tropical would be more fun though. Robert D. Title: Re: Bummer.... Hey Frank, Rob from the Latin board here. I've been to the Anse Chastanet resort. Great choice and probably the most picturesque. However, in the style of Euro beaches, topless bathing. Keep your eyes under disicipline! :) You might also consider LaSport. I stayed there for three weeks once and it is sort of a European kind of body spa. Drivers are crazy there....sit in the back of all the taxis and buses! Rob Title: hey Rob....... Post by: Cold Warrior on June 24, 2003, 04:00:00 AM Title: Re: hey Rob....... Well it was an interesting impasse. It seems that the basic issue was that I "had" to be there immediately with no recourse to return within 6 months. However, that put me into the position of missing my daughter's graduation ceremony. Anyway...I pretty much traveled myself out of my first marriage I think, and I wasn't going to make this last mistake with my daughter (last of the kids.) Neither of us budged. So...here I am, with no regrets and am heading to Ecuador in a couple of weeks to look for the "one." How are you doing? Title: Good Luck..... in Ecuador. I hope that you find your novia there.I am back home and doing OK.Its still pretty dangerous over there with close to 50 soldiers dead since the offical end of the war. Well, don't miss the graduation, or your daughter wouldn't forgive you all your life. Title: Re: Good Luck..... tnx...I made the ceremony and she is happy and spending some of the summer with me. Glad you are back in one piece. Rob Title: Re: Re: Bummer....WOW!!! St. Lucia it is!!!! Post by: Frank O on June 24, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Bummer...., posted by rob4050 on Jun 24, 2003
Rob, Thanks for responding. Did you get a chance to go eat at Ladera Resort? I hear they are pretty close. I've read extensively on both resort. I was thinking perhaps splitting up like 4 days in one & 3 in the other. Ladera Looks great but so does Anse. Both are TOP quality resort. How was the food? I don't do drugs or drink much but food is my one vice. As for the topless sounds like a LOT of fun. Diana should like it. She hardly ever wore bras! LOL!!! Title: Re: Re: Re: Bummer....WOW!!! Hey Frank, No, never ate at Ladera, but it is supposed to be pretty good according to the reviews by friends. Both resorts are in some very fantastic scenery. Anse has a neat little lagoon thing going on with amazing snorkling. Regarding the topless thing....don't do it on the public beaches! Also, if you are up to it, take a taxi or bus to the restaurant up the mountain overlooking the bay. I don't remember the name, but the view is flat out amazing of the old volcano (Pitons). Ladera is close to this restaurant, so I would only go if you stayed at Anse. Food...very good at the resorts. Away from them, it is a mixed bag, but if you are adventurous...hey...why not. I really enjoyed how they cooked the plantains with fish. Some of it was different, but I sure ate a lot! Have a good time....it sounds like you will! Rob Title: Re: Bummer.... Most Caribbean would issue a RW a tourist visa on arrival at the airport. However it would be better to arrive together to show that you have a hotel reservation and enough funds to cover your stay. |
