1. Mark Dante was the name of a character in the daytime soap opera
General Hospital.

http://www.geocities.com/akgrgators/EarlyYears3.html
"Mark Dante became attracted to Rick and Jeff's widowed sister,
Terri but he had a wife back in Boston. "
--google search

2. Checking the archives I find a reference to the travel agency.
But, the link is dead.

http://www.planet-love.com/wwwboard/search/searchdisplay.php?page=russian&archive=000135&id=58936&bold[]=mdante99
" My Russian/Lithuanian wife runs a travel agency;
www.travelandtrips.com"
--PL archive search

3. Checking the whois database for travelandtrips.com we find:
Administrative Contact:
     Zaki, Mark  mdante99@hotmail.com
     Eucam International
     950 Mass Ave.    #216
     Cambridge, MA 02139
     United States
     617-661-4747      Fax -- 617-868-6728

4. A google search for the phone number comes up with another
web site "http://www.afineimage.com/intro.htm"
Visiting the site, it's a wedding photography outfit.
Another whois lookup gives: Mark Zaki again.

looking at the "about us" page we get a middle initial.
It's now Mark S. Zaki, and his bio -- for what it's worth --

"MARK S. ZAKI is an experienced photographer who has studied
photojournalism. He produces fine art photography, shooting portraits
and commercial work. Mark has studied photography with some of the best
photographers in America including classic photographers like Monte
Zucker. He is an alumnus of New England School of Photography in Boston"

So how come his portrait stinks?

5. Google again for Zaki: we get a nice list of names
mohammed javeed zaki
jamila zaki oriental dance
Faisal Ahmed Zaki Yamani
Anis Zak
Suhair Zaki
I'm guessing that Zaki is an egyptian name.

6. From another post I get the name of his wife "jorune"
http://www.planet-love.com/wwwboard/search/searchdisplay.php?page=russian&archive=000129&id=56904&bold[]=mdante99

And following the thread, we find "She was a lawyer in her country"
of lithuania.

7. In a later post we have
"Here is a brief address.
http://photos.yahoo.com/mdante99
Click on Jorune."
So I follow the link, and there is no "Jorune" to click on,
but there IS a jennifer!  Same person?  Could be.  One of
the captions is "All Business as a lawyer."

8.  But wait!  There's more!  The same jennifer is not just
a lawyer, she's a top notch degreed Fine Arts type university
educated photographer!
http://www.afineimage.com/aboutus.htm#2
The resume -- again for what its worth -- reads
"JENNIFER J. JAKULYTE has been a professional photographer
since 1995; she has a University degree in Fine Arts. She
studied wedding photography at the New England School
of Photography in Boston. Jennifer spent her formative
years in Europe where she studied classic arts and
where she developed an eye for beautiful imagery. She
produces unforgettable wedding images, a combination of
formals with an emphasis on candid and documentary style
photography. Capturing the emotions of your day is the very
essence of her style. Jennifer has photographed weddings
in Europe and USA and is available to travel worldwide."

-----------

A maze of twisty little passages.

Differently on Opera than it does in IE.

As translated in Opera (my prefered web browser), it is unworkable. As translated in IE (which I resort to ONLY because many web pages are optimized for IE), it works just fine.

This is just part of the MS plan to dominate the world (well, at least, the browser --smile--).

I am trying to recall the guy.   Is this the one with the very pretty Russian wife who was a travel agent?  If so, she seemed rather nice, so I do wonder what happened.

He had the nice looking Latvian girl that had an internet travel agency and they tried to arrange travel for guys hunting for brides to the Baltic region.  He annoyed people because he made a lot of posts that were misleading like: "You can get a wife for a little as $2500."  He made his wife pay her own way over and the whole marriage sounded more like a business deal rather than a marriage where any love was involved.

Actually, she was Lithuanian, not Latvian.  Same difference, unless you're married to her!

well not to cast him in a bad light, his pic looks like a person of strange convictions, or more like a person who might not be able to be trusted.

she started working within a week at his travel agency. The cheap F*** wouldn't buy her a car either, she had to use city transportation.

Had the most ASS-O-9 pre nup too. She was going to have to pay him in a divorce settlement. She must of been pretty desperate.

Unfortunately, we have no information on how things turned out between them.  It would be interesting to know what happened and what their intentions were. Perhaps is was never intended as a long term relationship...

The personal ad could be very old and either MDante never bothered to have it removed, or they never followed through with removing it.  There's lots of very old out of date personal ads on many of these intro sites.  I don't neccessarily think this means his marriage failed.

However, I do think his claims of having a legitimate pre-nup that required his ex to pay him if she does not return to her native country after divorce were pretty outrageous and unbelievable.

The ad appears to be about 2 years old.  His age is listed as 45 in the left hand column (this probably updates automatically) while in his discription his age is listed as 43.

I had an ad on this site about 2 1/2 years ago.  I sent an email to have it removed quite some time ago, but I had never gone back and checked.  Anyway, while checking I came across his ad and thought it might liven things up a bit.

Wow, now *that's* a discussion I missed!  Geez, take a few months off from PL and I miss some serious dirt!  Oh well, I had other things keeping me busy.  :-)

As far as ads go, don't be surprised to see your wife's ad periodically reappear on the web too.  I found my wife's original ad reappear on the web a few months ago, along with several others that were on her original site at that time.  Apparently, somebody lifted the old nonexistent website from somewhere out of time and started putting ads back out on the web.  I thought it was funny, but my wife was less than amused.

Getting her ad off was an ordeal too.  They wanted a marriage photo of the two of us.  Marina and I refused, as we didn't want to be a "success story" for some web site we never heard of.  I ended up scanning our wedding certificate and sending that.  They pulled her ad a few days later.

The site that did this was called 1ForLove Introduction Services (http://www.1forlove.com/).  There are a lot of ads on there that are at least 3 or 4 years old.  I think that's one you might want to avoid...

Mark was a looney-tune from the outset that just grew weirder as time went on.

At the end, he was actively touting his wife's travel business and aggressively combative with anyone that suggested any disagreement to his ignorant perspectives.

Now that I think about it - sounds a lot like another Mark on the board (who is not yet banned).

I was trying to be kind: I wanted to bring out the point that he was banned without making strong statements about someone who can not defend himself.

This board is a much nicer place now that our combative posters have been banned, moved on to greener pastures (ie other boards) or their combative ways behind. My original post was not intended to start a discussion of our formerly combative / competitive posting wars, but to remind the board of why a particular (former) poster is no longer with us. Let's keep it to that, please.

Some of the people who have participated extensively in flame wars are still amongst us.  I would prefer not to provoke another flame war.
