Title: Does you wifes parents live without power ? Post by: wsbill on May 18, 2003, 04:00:00 AM Found this great site on Solar power, as I'm looking towards renewable energy for the ole greenhouse.
Pretty slick article on page 88-89, you can download the whole magazine or select page ranges. http://www.homepower.com/magazine/downloads_current_issue.cfm Title: Darn it, Bill Post by: John K on May 21, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Does you wifes parents live without powe..., posted by wsbill on May 18, 2003
I spent my entire afternoon reading at that site and associated links. Now, I'm afraid I might be addicted... Title: Re: Yea, it's pretty neat huh Post by: wsbill on May 22, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Darn it, Bill, posted by John K on May 21, 2003
Get off the electrical grid and sell it back to them. Title: But the upfront investment is pretty expensive Post by: John K on May 23, 2003, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Yea, it's pretty neat huh, posted by wsbill on May 22, 2003
California rebates aside, it seems like a pretty money intensive proposition. The systems that put back into the grid run a grand for a cheap one. Also, for CA, to get decent rebate money, you have to use new equipment, which is more expensive. Getting used parts from EBay probably wouldn't qualify... Good idea. Try wind generators? Do a search for "kiss" and you will find a quiet one with great output, if you have wind most of the time. Puts out more amps than solor, unless you have very large panels. Frankly using panels and wind generator, is a great system Robert D. Title: Re: Does you wifes parents live without power ? About a year ago I found a great site on renewable power. Had home kits for Solar, Hyrdo and Wind as well as lots of energy saving appliances. I will try to find it again as a supplement to what you have posted. Everything was relatively affordable and built for home use. |
