Title: Svetlana 4/23
Post by: JackS on April 26, 2003, 04:00:00 AM
I am not trying to rain on your Svetlana parade, but have read your letter and feel like I should provide you a different scenario.  She may not be a scammer, but just think about a few things.

The real CIS pros wait a long time before asking for money.  They have a whole pipeline of marks in the works.  Until then, they just hint about money, et al.  As time goes by when their gig is getting more attention, they tell the mark that they have been trying to get their name removed so when it does get removed for scamming, they can tell you that they have been requesting it since you are their one and only.  Your feeling sorry for them sets you up for the big scam.  Would someone really post her on a scam site for just turning her down to get even?

If the agency was the one doing the scamming, why would they continue to forward emails and letters to her (this assumes that they were doing the forwarding).  She did not open subsequent letters nor read subsequent emails?  POZHOSTA!!  She immediately returned all of these letters?  Right!!  Is this all she has to do?  Return letters and study English?

And she went to the Agency’s office to email Russian Detective?  The same Agency that you have accused of being the scam?  And then they sent this email  to the Russian Detective  say that the real scammer is not Svetlana, but themselves?  By the way, since you talk to her 2 to 3 times a week and I assume not through an interpreter, she cannot get your email address so she does not have to send them through the Agency?  She has her own email address and you have yours.  There is no mention of this horrible agency charging anything for their services including translating of emails, letters, and “insisting” that they type every word!!.  If she really does this through the agency, do you really think they do it for free?

Do you really think that all of these other people go through the bother that you think they do to reinstate credibility to one out of a half a million CIS women?   Additionally, how many do you think really read these Detective sites?

And after your last sentence, I will now let you be the judge.  For your sake, I hope you are right in your assessment.  All I am doing here is providing you with a contra position and suggest that you be careful.

For your reference, I have not been scammed.  So, how do I know so much about all of this?  I work in Moscow and hear a lot.

Good luck

All the things you said are good questions but bottom line is I did not only request for them to remove her from this site but I also told them if they were not willing to, at least let me and Jack write our experineces so both sides are shown. They did not reply to this. If you owned a scam site wouldn't you want to look at all sides? I am sure what the guy said was what happened to him but if you read the complaint anyone could have sent those emails including the agency. I will not go into more details as I feel I said enough facts to get my point across.

BTW, Russian Detective must have agreed after looking at things because to their credit they did remove her. I will post later today about this.

Z, I think these anti-scam sites are basically good. What concerns me about your situation is the effort put forth trying to have your woman removed from what was supposedly a reputable anti-scam site.

This is about the third negative report I have heard about this Russian Detective site and if they will post a woman's photo and e-mail with no more information than they did with your lady, one has to wonder about them.

My feelings exactly. They not only put her name and photo's up but her birthday and thankfully there was no more personal info. Jack also wrote a long and very good email asking for them to post his comments about her if they were not willing to remove her. Never did RD respond to any of us. Even though the agency in Dnepro said they got a reply Svetlana never saw it. So Svetlana also sent email from her personal account to RD. No answer... Then today her scam post was removed but still no answer.
