Each one is different.  If you're looking for a "one size fits all" rule, you're bound to be disappointed.

That being said, people have created their own guidelines for picking a minimum age.  One guideline that was kicked around here was the "half your age plus seven" rule.  This implies that the older the woman gets, the more likely she will accept a larger age gap.  I don't think a 42 year old woman is going to be interested in a 70 year old man though, and if she is, I don't give much life expectancy to the old man if they marry.  :-)

My mother in law is 42.  She's interested in finding an American man 40 to 50 years old with a high sex drive.  My wife, on the other hand, really enjoys the 16+ year age difference between us.  She grew up without a father figure in her life, however, and women like that tend to want an older man.

I personally think a 10 year difference is comfortable to deal with, on both sides.  Going beyond that is going to require someone who's into older men, someone who's willing to sacrifice a few years to find a good husband and father to her children (like an unwed mother), or someone who's after something other than your love.  It's an iffy proposition and the larger the age gap, the more it will be fraught with difficulties.

Best of luck in your search.  As always, this is simply my 2¢ and strictly my opinion.  Your results may vary.

Within 10 years is generally no problem. You can find women who are comfortable with higher age differences, but the numbers dwindle as the age gap increases.

I know a guy who is happily married with a 30 year age difference (he is married three years).  However, no more than 15 years is the general rule of thumb.  There are exceptions to every rule.  Within 10 years is best.
