Title: wait time for travel document...
Post by: oneiroknight on April 16, 2003, 04:00:00 AM
Just wondering what the usual wait time is for a travel document.  Olga and I just put in the application, and hope that we have it by August.  Does this seem reasonable?  Have they been running very smoothly since the transition to BCIS?

Thanks

As long as you are not with the Miami regional office, you should be OK. Its taking a Congressional letter to get my wife's work permit processed. Miami's INS office is bad news.

If you mean advanced parole, the wait time varies depending on what BCIS field office you have to file at.  For some offices, you can get AP the same day if you file in person.  For most of them, I believe the wait time is less than 3 months, so you should be OK having mailed it in.

Yes, advance parole.  I am in the Phoenix field office, and we applied in person, but the clerk said that we would get something in the mail telling us when our appointment would be.  They are somewhat vague at times.  I made her aware of some of the discrepencies in the directions on the paperwork, that make it more confusing to the applicant, which she agreed were misleading, but really made no attempt to clarify anything.  It seems the BCIS is a bit more friendly than it was when we were there last time, which was a pleasant surprise, but they were really no more helpful or insightful.
