Title: babushka tourist visa Post by: Apk1 on March 29, 2003, 05:00:00 AM My mother in law in Moscow is afraid to submit her papers for a tourist visa to come visit us this summer. She tells us that the embassy may refuse to give visa after accepting her $100 fee and then deny due to add'l security protocals due to the war with Iraq.
Has anyone heard that the embassys are holding up visas? Title: Re: tourist visa for babushka Post by: T P Cornholio on March 31, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to babushka tourist visa, posted by Apk1 on Mar 29, 2003
If she has property and possibly a husband she is leaving behind, then she has a fair chance (along with her age & babuska status) of getting the visa. However she's correct in being concerned about losing her 100 bucks, it's my understanding that they (Moscow & Kyiv) are denying more visas than ever (and they don't mind, because the fee is non-refundable). As I believe I mentioned before, the security protocols are not the only reason to be concerned about getting a tourist visa for your MIL. I have not heard of additional difficulties in recent months, but will be trying to get a visa for the 13-year old daughter of our best friends in Russia in the next few weeks. I will let you know how it turns out... |
