Title: WM in Russian media Post by: 104gummiand on March 11, 2003, 05:00:00 AM Hi
Recently I was in Russia to visit my RW. She told me several times, that her co-worker freqently discussed the WM. Some of this discussion was based on articls in the newspaper. Naturally the Russian media, is negative to the WM. But has anyone encountered RW's telling you about the media? I got some rather unpleasent question from my RW, due to this articles and discussions !!! She had read that many Russian wifes in the East are doing all the homechores, have dinner ready, get up in the morning to make breakfast. So the Q sha asked: Is that what she will expect? She has read/being told that many men writes/visit more than one girl. Basically she feared she will be maid and lover, not a wife I love and respect. There are very few independant media around, may it be here or anywhere. As an example, there will be no Peter Arnett this time, if there is a war. Title: lipstick cam Post by: vagn on March 11, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: WM in Russian media, posted by micha1 on Mar 11, 2003
=== Reporters, for newspapers, TV or whatever, will be === thousands of kilometers at sea and reporting what === they are told and shown. You appear to be mistaken. Take a look at http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,5470-602621,00.html Time will tell, though. Saddam is planning atrocities that he hopes will be http://www.nypost.com/news/worldnews/70422.htm Title: Re: lipstick cam Post by: micha1 on March 11, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to lipstick cam, posted by vagn on Mar 11, 2003
If there's a war, only AFP will report all that is happening. Because you know that the french have Arianne, they are the best surveillance satellites around. Hopefully with Blair about to be thrown out and Aznar will Do not kid yourself, Irak was the equal of North America, Title: Re: Re: lipstick cam Post by: DanM on March 11, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: lipstick cam, posted by micha1 on Mar 11, 2003
Iraq still has a 8 billion dollar debt to Russia that was incurred in the 80s so I think it is incorrect to say they had no debt before the war. War is a certain event at this point. US and allied soldiers are in place and the UN personel have been advised to leave. Within 1-2 weeks, it will begin. Tony Blair is dealing with opposition within his own party, but it would be a gross oversimplification to say he will be thrown out within the next week. He still has a lot of strong support even if the UK goes to war without UN approval. The PM of Spain is also not on such shaky ground. Yes its possible these guys could eventually take a fall, but the certainty of your statements may be more wishful thinking than anything else. Besides, their removals will come after the fighting has started. There is virtually no chance either will be removed before fighting starts. I remember seeing an interview with a CBS reporter currently located in Kuwait. He was talking about a pentagon program where reporters like himself would be out there with the troops. The reasoning is these reporters on the scene can help us combat the Iraqi disinformation such as Republican Guard soldiers in US uniforms who commit attrocities. Maybe this tactic will backfire on us if our guys do something stupid, but it is US Army policy to have these independent reporters in the field with the troops during combat. A group of these reporters went through military orientation back in December and are poised to go in the field with the troops when the fighting starts.
