Ok guys... I need your help... I am ignorant when it comes to cel phones and might be the last known American to not purchase a cel phone... My girl has a cel phone and wants me to send SMS messages to her. I looked it up and found out alot about it. Also looked on the archives and read everything on here about it but I still need help...

She uses Kiev Star. I searched web pages and only found a Russian page for Kiev Star. Since I do not have a cel phone does anyone have suggestions on what I need? Will all providers here work with sending SMS to Ukraine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this www.sms.ac. You can send sms messages free as long as you know her cell phone number. You can also buy credits to send as many messgages as you like. I have used this service to send messages to a girl I know in Poland.

First, the English version of Kyivstar's website can be found here -- http://www.kyivstar.net/eng/index.html.

Next, if you want to send a SMS message to a Kyivstar subscriber, you can do so from any computer via their website here -- http://www.kyivstar.net/eng/service/index.html#lib/sms_send.html

You will also find instructions on that same web page to enable you to send SMS via an e-mail message.

You will also need to know her telephone number to be able to use their SMS service.

Now - if she wants to send SMS to you - then you will need a cellphone and network provider that supports it. AT&T Wireless is one - and most others do as well.
