Title: RW travelling
Post by: JT on January 21, 2003, 05:00:00 AM
I found in the archives a list of countries that do not require a visa (i.e Turkey etc.) for AM/RW. This might be a dumb question, but what does a RW need to get OUT of Russia, if anything ??

Thank you.

Is all that is normally needed now.

There *are* some issues with an "Exit Visa" (aka PMZh) stamp, but this is not an issue until the lady takes full-time residence in another country and is evidenced by their possession of a 'Green Card' (if USA). Even then, enforcement and real issues are only sporadic.

If you want to read more about this infamous Exit Visa, just do a search in the archives here, and on the Brama board (www.brama.com).

I was under the impression that these "issues" were directly related to Ukrainian gov't. I've never heard of a Russian exit visa........

Title: Same Rules Apply . . .

"Propyska" or official residency rules are similar (or identical) in both countries - as I understand it.

I recently heard from a guy whose wife had a problem exiting Moscow - and the story was identical to those problems we've heard sporadically coming from Ukraine.

Having said that - I am nowhere near as familiar with the goings-on in Russia as I am in Ukraine - so count this as 2nd-hand information and treat it accordingly.

In any case, it's been a long while since anyone has reported more than a passing annoyance at this problem.

FWIW
