Title: Terrible Norway! Post by: Haroshij on December 31, 2002, 05:00:00 AM I told you earlier that my wife likes Norway. Not today. Last night it started to snow while we were looking at an American movie on TV. Elena suddenly walked downstairs. I believed she found the film boring and went to her computer. Surprise when I notice she had went outdoors starting to shuffle snow. She needed to get early up this morning to drive to work, and she didn't want to wake me up in the morning because of problems with the snow and the car. I had this day off and could sleep longer. Well, she left early in the morning and came walking back home 15 minutes later. She had driven 100 yards and then lost control of the car and ended into the deep snow on the roadside. I dressed quickly, took my old 4 WD and pulled her out of the snow, and told her to drive carefully.
Later today I got a call from her that she was stuck in the snow on the highway together with a dozen other cars and that there were now rescue cars to see. I again took my old 4 WD and drove towards her. It was snowing, and it was strong wind and in periods I could hardly see anything. It also came some light snow slides down from the mountain on one side and on the other side of the highway was the fjord. The situation was difficult and a little risky. Together with some other men we succeeded to get the cars through, and when we came home she was wet and cold and said: "Terrible Norway" and added: "it's so good to be home with you". Happy new year from the land polar of nights. Haroshij Title: Re: Terrible Norway! I had to read your post to my wife yesterday. She came into the house after a walk through the neighborhood complaining "it's December and hot outside". It was maybe 75 F. We live in Florida. She decided our weather is ok. Title: Re: Re: Terrible Norway! Post by: Horoshij on January 01, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Terrible Norway!, posted by John F on Jan 1, 2003
Hi John, In this time of the year I envy you. It's cold and dark and a lot of snow here. We have, however, a big and comfortable house. So it's time for reading, having parties and listening to music. That's not so bad either. I love old American swing jazz (1935 - 1940's). In the middle of Januar the sun will return and it's time for skiing. We love it both of us. In summertime when there are no difference of day and night and we take our boat out on the fjord and are enjoying the marvellous nature and the quiet sea and are getting a lot of fish, there are no better place on the planet. Welcome. Haroshij Title: I just moved to the beach....:0) Post by: yoe on December 31, 2002, 05:00:00 AM Title: Re: Terrible Norway! Norway and the Scandinavian Countries are wonderful place, to be from and to live in. I do love social democracy, wishing the anglo-saxon world knew about social-democracy. As for the weather in winter. What the hell, here in Québec, we had freezing rain this morning in the south of the Province. Tonight, we have zero celcius, hardly New Year's temperature and no snow on the ground in Montréal. But we do have in our eyes the blue that his missing in our I have promise myself not to drink more than two bottles of Have a good one. Title: Re: Re: Socialist Democracy? micah1, Bonjour Micah! I think you have been staying up to late at night reading Jean-Paul Sartre, and J.J. Rousseau. You keep your Frenchy political ideas up there. We already have enough worker strikes in this country, and most of us men try to avoid the "social reformers". You aren't dating Hillary Clinton are you? I am just joking with you. I am glad we have a culture of contrast to our north. Best wishes. Steve Title: Re: Re: Re: Socialist Democracy? Hey Steve, You must have read Mr. Johnson's book. Gotta love those social engineers; especially, the "unique" lad's from Quebec. Vaughn Title: To Each His Own!!! Post by: ChrisNJ on December 31, 2002, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Terrible Norway!, posted by micha1 on Dec 31, 2002

Haroshij when I was faced with this same situation I hopped into my Landcruiser and drove my wife to work. It made for a much better day. |
