Her hobby "the weapon" is really hand to hand combat. She could kill you 7 times before you hit the floor. Moose and Squirrel wouldn't stand a chance! Another Bullwinkle fan! I grew up not far from "the Confluence" and we watched Bullwinkle every week as kids. So... brace yourself the first time you hear that Russian accent. We live out in the country... we were driving home a couple of days after she got here, and all of the sudden, she sits up, points out the window, and exclaims: "Look! There's squirrel!" I almost wrecked the car. She sounded JUST like Natasha from the cartoon. She wanted to know why I was laughibng... but of course that was one of those things that I just couldn't explain. Besides, I don't want her self-conscious about her accent, because I love it! When she looks at me and says: "Oh... REALLY?" it cracks me up... I love her accent... I suppose if they had mooses in Texas and you were a hunter she could have said "Mark, get gun, I see moose and squirrel". Title: Re: That cracks me up too Post by: MarkInTx on January 04, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to That cracks me up too, posted by BubbaGump on Jan 4, 2003
And I would have wrecked the car from laughing! Title: my secret plan... Post by: vagn on January 03, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Funny!, posted by MarkInTx on Jan 3, 2003
is to begin every new endeavor with the words "but first we kill moose and squirrel!" until she picks it up. Is it over the top to change my name to Boris? Title: Maybe Post by: MarkInTx on January 03, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to my secret plan..., posted by vagn on Jan 3, 2003
But you would never be convicted by a jury of your peers... I just wish the movie was better. I would rent it, and let her see it. Title: Re: Funny! Post by: ChrisNJ on January 03, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Funny!, posted by MarkInTx on Jan 3, 2003
Although I don't have a Russian wife or girlfriend, I do know some Russian and Ukranian girls and you know what? I LOVE the accent. Whenever this one UW tries to explain something to me she always says "FOR EXAMPLE" or if she wants me to do something she says "YOU MUST". Always very Matter of Factly. I love it! Victoria's two favorite ways to begin a sentence are: "By the way" ... and "Probably..." As in: "Probably, tonight I will give you a massage..." Or... "What would you like to drink?" "Oh, something cold. Pepsi with ice..." "Probably you will have tea." As you can see... the word probably is used in the affirmative. It is very endearing. I even drink the hot tea when she tells me to this way. (She is convinced that if it is cold out, and I drink something cold, that I will get a sore throat!) Correct her english and never hear your favorite phrases again. Tough call. Title: Not tough Post by: MarkInTx on January 04, 2003, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to mayhap she will learn "perhaps"..., posted by vagn on Jan 3, 2003
She doesn't have to speak perfect English. I LOVE her little expressions. I don't want her to ever lose them. So I smile and say nothing :-) I help her on other areas of English. But I leave these alone... |
