Title: Calling Plans to Ukraine Post by: Richard on April 12, 2002, 04:00:00 AM I've been using Net2Phone to call Kiev, but have been experiencing problems lately. Can anybody suggest an alterative? I need something that allows me an option to call when I'm away from home. (I don't have a cellular phone.)

Richard, They are not the very best rates, but Sam's and Costco sell calling cards that cost the equivalent of less than 4 cents per minute for domestic calls. When used to call Ukraine, the multiplier is usually 6 - so it works out to about 25 cents per minute. I know there are cheaper calling plans out there, but these calling cards may be used from any telephone - including a mobile telephone - so the convenience factor may be important. I hope this helps. - Dan Title: Re: Calling Cards . . . Post by: rojak on April 13, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Calling Cards . . ., posted by Dan on Apr 12, 2002
I think the best deal is at Leancard.com ....Their cards work very well and the cost for Ukraine is .125 per min. Title: I pay 18 cents to Ukraine with a dial around- Post by: Oscar on April 12, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Calling Cards . . ., posted by Dan on Apr 12, 2002

Thanks - this might work from home: I've been using at&t as a backup at 29 cents/minute + taxes and monthly fee. With the 101-5335 dial around at 18 cents a minute, there is NO monthly fee either! There are taxes certainly but that's it! Best deal I've found so far at least.. If I was the Consulate interviewer, I would want to see the guy there in person to claim his lady. Worth more than 1000 pictures..... Title: Agreed, but Post by: Richard on April 13, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Were I In Charge...., posted by tfcrew on Apr 13, 2002
the phone bills and all are good support for the K1 application that gets you to the interview. Title: Oooops terms again..... Post by: tfcrew on April 14, 2002, 04:00:00 AM ... in response to Agreed, but, posted by Richard on Apr 13, 2002
I-130 is the petition... K-1 is the visa. So in Mikes statement, I assumed interview...(and you need all that is requested of course) He wrote that he wasn't there. Not so with me. I had a most memorable vacation in Warsaw Aug 2000! We buzzed through that city like a couple of pidgeons ;) Leaving for Odessa 19 May. Karl Title: You're *Probably* Right - OTOH . . . The two major websites that I followed in assembling my submission to the IRS included the suggestion to send copies of telephone calls - and e-mail correspondence - as further evidence that the relationship is legitimate. I followed that guidance and the petition went through without a hitch. Would it have made a difference had I *not* included those documents? I don't know. It does, however, seem logical to expect that greater, not less, scrutiny will be afforded future petitions (mine was prior to September 11), hence, it is probably a good idea to err on the side of caution and send more evidence of meeting/relationship rather than expect them to approve a petition on the basis of the bare minimums.
