Title: Uribe and Chavez Together Post by: Kiltboy1 on December 18, 2005, 05:00:00 AM Uribe and Chavez seem to be chumming it up in Santa Marta today. Uribe and Washington had a dispute this week over Corrupt election results. Seems like washington even pisses off our best Ally in Latin America. The Bush screwballs just never can seem to keep there frigen mouths shut . What ever happened to Diplomacy instead of warinigns and Threats ??

The ambassador says he's "worried" about an upcoming election, and everyone cries "Imperialism!" Give the U.S. taxpayers back their billions of dollar and let Chavez dominate how things transpire in SA. Apparently, his opinion and influence aren't considered "meddlesome". Chavez has won 2 or 3 elections. Also he has all of that oil money to buy suporters and also has a big propaganda machine in place. The US matched that with a radio station telling the other side of the story. Other than getting very directly involved in a Coup what are we going do do other than let him shoot himself in the ass with his own stupid policies? Even a total fool can be somewhat successfull with enough money. Did you see the results in Bolivia?Offering to -play Santa Claus is attractive to people who have nothing.Problem is without resources like Venizuelas oil its a recipe for economic disaster, ala Brazil and Argentina. Colombia and Venizuela are neighbors.Even though Uribe and Chavez are miles apart politically it is smart on Uribes part to at least try and keep a dialog going. As far as Bush and Crew, even though I am a republican and choose Bush over his opponents I am afraid you are right. They are more intent on protecting outrageous drug prices by US drug companies than having a real trading partner in Colombia.Colombians cannot afford US drug prices,I do not blame them one bit for just cranking out their own generics. Its a simple choice between the health of your citizens and some company selling a pill for $10 that costs them $.05 to produce.I used to buy real Cipro here.It was $10 a pill. The generic is about $.30 a pill. They make enough money selling in the US where the government allows a company many years of exclusive rights to sell a drug then lets thier lawyers extend the protection another few years while they appeal the patent expiring. AND,to get the rebel leaders to just quit you need to grant them amnesty. There are no saints in this senario.Insisting on extraditing and procescuting them makes it smart for them to fight untill the end. Colombia is the one country in South America not contaminated by a socialist contingency of any real power. They can be a model of economic prosperity for the rest of South America. We need to support them in this, not look out for our lobyists and political supporters. Forget about Bush...eight years of the cum-stain president cost us lots of lives on 9/11. No foreign policy for so long hurt us....to many pussies in this country is the problem..that and democrats... I agree, even though I disagree with alot of Bush's policies. At least we got a guy who doesn't need to take a poll to decide what his opinion is. Iraq is costly.Having countries think you will not respond whatever they do,ala the invasion of Kuwait can be much costlier. Some people are shaking in their boots, ala Kudafi.Thats good. Wait untill they string up Saddam. That will make a point to tyrants everywhere.
