Title: And now for something completely different. Post by: Jeff S on December 10, 2001, 05:00:00 AM I was really surprised the other day wnen I found out my daughter (25 yrs old) had turned down a date from a guy because he was the wrong zodiac sign. I know the Chinese zodiac is payed close attention to in many Asian countries including China, Japan, Korea, and Viet Nam, though I don't know whether the Philippines is included in that list. I'm just curious whether any of you have found compatability or incompatability in wives, exes or fiances. By the way, the Chinese New Year is about the first of February, so if your birthday is in January, your sign is the one the year before your actual western year. For instance if you were born in January of year of the Ox, you're actually a Rat. By the way, I'm a Sanke and my wife an Ox. (I didn't know about this until after we were married.)

That's 32 plus years married, that means I'm not looking for a wife. I just enjoy reading all that's going on and I don't post very often. Title: Rat and Dragon here! Jeff, Since myself and Melly fit together so well, I can't argue with this stuff. I'm a Rat and she's a Dragon. The obvious fallacy in it all is that it assumes all people born in a given year are the same. Hmmmmm :) SteveG Title: Re: And now for something completely different. -- Snake eyes Post by: Windmill Boy on December 11, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to And now for something completely differe..., posted by Jeff S on Dec 10, 2001
Hello Jeff Yes both Kevin and I are Snake Eyes too (he is 1 day older than me you might recall) I guess we are all just a bunch of Snakes in the grass right? ha ha ha ha Obviously I don't know who I am compatable with yet. They say Taurus's are compatable with Virgo blah blah blah but I don't take much stock on it either way. However when I started writing with a Japanese girl named Motoko (Koko) She asked me what my blood type was. My coworkers and I discussed this and I thought What, is she some kind of Vampire? I still don't understand the meaning of this. But you will notice it listed on my web site (that I hope to release tonight). I figured beter safe than sorry if it means so much to the other person. My former Chinese coworker also believed in this hocus pocus. Koko was living in San Fran a couple of years ago. I subsequently flew out from Boston at the time to meet her but it didn't click between us and I lost track of her --- too bad

About blood types, perhaps she was concerned about the Rh factor in a potential marriage. I vaguely recall something about Rh+ and Rh- being a bad mix and if a fetus has the wrong factor compared to the mother's blood, it makes for a very dangerous pregnancy. I've never heard of anything to do with compatibility based on the A,B,AB, and O blood types. I might have this mixed up, but I think that southeast Asian people are more likely to have B blood, whereas the greater portions of Caucasians are type O. Another thing too. This baffled the doctors when my ex was first here and had a blood test. The doctors were concerned because her blood was slow to clot (about 1 minute compared to 20 seconds for a normal person). They had her take some tests including one for lupus, thinking that there had to be some underlying disease. No disease was detected. Later I learned, or read somewhere rather, that the characteristics of my ex-wife's blood is probably more genetic in that it's not all that uncommon in Southeat Asia. Simply speaking, doctors in America aren't necessarily trained regarding such exotic peculiarities. - Kevin Title: Re: Re: Re: And now for something completely different. -- Snake eyes Post by: Windmill Boy on December 11, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Re: And now for something completely..., posted by kevin on Dec 11, 2001
Interesting Kevin But I don't think it was so much a scientific thing though. I think they assign personality traits and compatability factors to the Blood types somehow. I told Weiling my former coworker that I am O neg (universal Doner) and she said oh that is good my ex boyfriend was also an O blood type. Who knows though. Maybe Jeff and Mariko can shed some light on it. I'm a Snake, Sally's a Dragon. We're neither incompatible nor compatible. She's supposed to be compatible with a monkey or a rat. It could have been worse; she could have been compatible with a Tazmanian Devil --- that's Humabdos -LOL! Hey Huma, when is your birthday? I can't imagine that you would be a sheep :o) Jim Title: ditto Post by: madmal on December 11, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Snake - Dragon, posted by Jimbo on Dec 10, 2001
Doan and I are dragons and snakes, respectively. This means we are not particularly compatible as far as Lunar horoscopes go. When we married, the day was set and decided on by reference to the horoscopes. Hopefully this has negated our lack of good compatibility. mal Title: Re: ditto Post by: Lori on December 11, 2001, 05:00:00 AM Title: Re: And now for something completely different. I'm a Taurus and my ex-wife is a Sagittarius. I've often heard that a Taurean and a Sagittarian is the worst possible match, but didn't take horoscopes to heart. Taurus is an earth sign and likes his ground and his security. Saggitarius is the sign of fire and has a very unstable, impatient type of personality and easily gets bored. Wheen getting divorced, my ex pointed out how incompatible we were and how we were a bad match. I have to admit now that I'm reluctant to get involved with anybody who is a Saggitarius. (My friends wife is very knowledgeable about horoscopes and has illuminated a few things regarding that subject). On the other hand, horoscopes, relying on them for decisions regarding courtship, aren't 100% accurate. Well, there must really be some merit behind the cliche referring to a volatile relationship, "a May-December Relationship". - Kevin Title: Re: uhhh..... You were right - you're a Dragon and he a dog: I gave you your characteristics below. For the Dog: Loyal and honest, yet works well with others. Generous but a bit stubborn and sometimes selfish. Most Asians I've met are pretty superstitious about one thing or another. Hopefully, you'll get his approval on the day after Christmas (the 26th!) I am a dragon and Thai is a dog. I have to tell you that I was kind of worried about this, as I have heard that some vietnamese forbid marrages of incompatable signs. They say the dragon would be way to dominant for the dog....HEY, I don't have a problem with that. I can rule the roost...hehe...I have always loved to be on top ...ummm...nevermind Title: Re: enter the dragon Post by: Jeff S on December 10, 2001, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to enter the dragon, posted by Lori on Dec 10, 2001
You're pretty fiesty today - breathing fire, no doubt. You know what they say about dragons: "Eccentric and complex, very passionate with abundant health." Now I know why you like to be on top. Seriously, though - many Asians pay attention to things like horoscopes and feng shui. My wife is very concerned about feng shui directions, as in - it's unlucky to travel in the East & West directions this month. She has a book with all sorts of charts and things. -- Jeff S. I never paid much attention to and I am not advocator of living life by a horoscopes/planets by any means. However, I do have to admit that when it comes to relationship compatibility there are some pretty strong character, personality traits that parallel the birth signs related to the Zodiac.
