Title: Are ALL Calling Cards Flaky? Post by: Looking4Wife on September 14, 2005, 04:00:00 AM Yesterday and this morning, I was so happy with my new "Tico" calling card from CallingCardPlus.com for calls to BAQ.
I was a little suspicious since they had LOCAL access numbers (about 30-50) of them instead of ONE "800/Toll Free Number". But I figured, what the heck, the price is right (less than 1 cent/minute to land lines, 2.38 cents/minute to cell phones). Well tonight ALL of the local access numbers are ringing busy. I called clueless service, I mean customer service... blah, blah, blah... "your local access number (which one?) will be up in one hour." Yeah, right... I think most are. I have noticed that a lot of them use the same access numbers, so right now I am trying to find one with a low rate which uses an access number that is the same for a card that I trust. Let me know how that one works out for you. I am always game to try new ones. On one that I get a good connection on, I'm usually getting about an hour for 5 dollars and I have come to accept that. I have yet to find one that has given me the minutes they say, so I pretty much go for connection now. When I make a call I usually buy 3-4 cards. 2-3 to try out and one that I know is good for a back up. They are very reliable and cheap. My wife uses them to call her friends and family in Lima Peru...for Peru it is about 3 dollars an hour... With no connection fee!!!!!!!!! It is that high for high speed internet access in Peru. My wife only calls home every few days and talks about 15 minutes. That is about an hour a week or about 12 dollars a month. |
