The women also like Bacardi Limon. Actually not bad if your active, like dancing at the club.

Title: Licorish flavored rubbing alcohol

Its licorish flavored and strong,as is any strait booze. They serve it in a little cup, about .5 oz,you just chug it.Actually to me its no worse than chugging strait whisky or rum.Its sort of like a challenge when they hand you the cup.I can get high enough drinking something that tastes good, like rum and coke.
At Colombian parties there is usually a person walking around with a tray of these little cups of it.
Colombians also like to drink strait whisky, which is always scotch. You can't buy anything but scotch in Colombia.Give me something to mix it with please, even if only some water.
For me I drink cervesa,Costena is my favorite with a lime, better than Corona at 40% the price.I like wine with dinner. Its expensive compared to the US.Colombian wine is alfull, worse than the cheapest US jug wine.Chilean is good, similar to Calfornia wine but more expensive. My girlfriends like it.I probably spend $400 a month on wine, mostly for my girl friends.I also like rum and coke, cubalibre if it has a lime.I use Coke light, diet coke when I am trying to go low carb.
The rum is good and inexpensive. Most dance clubs require you buy a bottle of something and the mixers are usually free. Its alot cheaper that way.A full bottle will be 50,000-80,000 pesos but it could be 20 drinks, where you can pay 10,000 pesos for one mixed drink. And look around at the nimber of gringos in the party.Divide the total cost by that to estimate what it will cost you.

I'm a beer man myself but I figured I better get ready. Like I said I don't want to be caught off guard like in Urkaine. I'll check out that beer you said. I HATE Corona though. My favorite is Indio which is sort of like SHiner Bock. Obolon from Ukraine is VERY good as well.

To me it tastes like peppermint schnapps. Very heavy tasting drink that I feel is an aquired taste. I think it's made from sugar cane, each city in Colombia has it's own local version of Aguardiente. I think in Cali it's Blanco. The ladies are very proud of their city version. To me personally it's the quickest way to assist hurling the evening's dinner. But then I don't drink much. Stick to the Costeno Beer....not bad stuff

I was just curious. Trying to prepare the liver for it. I remember when I arrived in Ukraine I was NOT prepared for the massive VOLUME Of vodka they consume!!!! I don't want to get caught off guard in Colombia. As for beer I can hold my own there man.

Colombian aguardiente is sugarcane based and flavored with anise (licorice) it is very sweet and about 70 to 80 proof. Mexican aguardiente is usually 100 proof or more. It too is made from sugarcane, but is basically raw unaged rum. The literal translation (as if you didn't know) is 'fire water', which is a very apt discription of the Mexican stuff.

Frank:

I recall Aguardiente Cristal and Aguardiente Nectar in Bogota. Some version(s) available in Houston at Spec's Liquor. Don't recall what city you are in.

I do not drink liquor but only beer. The owner of Andre Carne De Res in Chia 4 years ago brought a shot to the table as i had given him my amateur radio texas license plate to hang on his restaurant wall. Out of courtesy i drank it and it about killed me.
