Post by: whome on June 16, 2005, 04:00:00 AM
I wonder does anyone here know how/who I could contact to get my birth certificate from Texas. Is there a special phone number or email?

http://www.tdh.state.tx.us/bvs/registra/cert.htm
"Texas Vital Statistics has six ways for you to apply for a copy of a birth or death certificate: by mail, by overnight mail, by fax, and in-person at three possible locations. Detailed instructions follow from each link below. When the birth has occurred within the last 75 years or the death has occurred within the last 25 years, certified copies can be requested by qualified individuals. All certified copies are issued with a State Raised Seal.

If you do not meet the definition of a qualified applicant or simply need to verify that a birth or death has occurred, you may request a Verification of Birth or Death. Certified copies of birth certificates that are more than 75 years old or death certificates that are more than 25 years old can be requested by following the application methods below. BVS can only provide certificates for births or deaths that have occurred in TEXAS from 1903 to the present."

What do you need it for?  If it needs an Apostille  you might be able to obtain both at the same time but in all probability you will have to get the birth certificate and then send it to the Texas Secretary of State's Office for the Apostille

Your best bet is to search the government pages in your local telephone directory. Look under "Health Services" or a related catagory. Sending to Austin will take twice as long. Call me @ (713) 896-9993 if you have further questions.
