I think riding a bike when taxis are around is far more dangerous. Friend was taking a taki at night across Cali and taxi driver hit a biker hard, very hard. Taxis seem scary but I have never even seen an accident happen.They all seem to know the special rules,plus they HAVE to pay constant attention.You can't zone out driving like in the states. The most dangerous placde,a bad barrio at night.Much more dangerous than wandering around in the Darien gap betwen Colombia and Panama.
