Title: Avianca Post by: Sam Club on March 22, 2005, 05:00:00 AM Has anyone else experienced this with Avianca:
I purchased my ticket last week on Monday via telephone and was told that I would receive my confirmation/flight info via email the next day. Well it is now 7 business days later and I still have NOT recieved anything related to Avianca via email. I have been calling everyday since last Tuesday and even gave them a new email address (been checking both my regular inbox and my spam inbox) and then a day later gave them my work fax number. NADA! I spoke with a supv today and she told me "don't worry, just give them your confirmation no. when you get to the counter and they will issue me the ticket. Of course after I show id. But this shit is nerve-racking! Title: Guess I've been lucky Post by: AnzoNevis on March 24, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Avianca, posted by Sam Club on Mar 22, 2005
Never had a problem with Avianca in about 40 flights, except when I needed to postpone a trip. Miami not a problem if you get there early. Beats the living sh**t out of American in terms of condition of the aircraft, flight attendants, food and those gawdawful AA lines on the weekends. And the planes, at least during the week, tend to be less full than AA. Title: Lost a day due to them last week. Just got back from Panama. Was there to spend a week with my latina but lost a day because Avianca had problems with her plane. (out of Cali). Told the entire flight, "Sorry, we are having plane problems. Come back tomorrow". That is what she did and we lost a day of our trip. Can you imagine this in the US? For weather sure but not mechanical problems. They suck all the way around. Avianca seems pretty disorganized to me.But you are in South America.Aero Republic is worse.ACES who got taken over by Avianca was good. American airlines is pretty ordinary also, but better than Avianca.I would take them first everything else being equal. Try to avoid checking in on Avianca in Miami. What a mess.3 hours of lines and running here and there. The time before I checked in in San Francisco with American. It took 20 miniutes. Then I just transfered in Miami,no problem. I just flew Avanica. Just print the number because they need to stare at it along with 4 other front desk people until they decide what to do with it. It's scary but the flight was better then American, the service on the plane better, and the women stewardesses better. I had a look at the American help on AA at the Inter before their flight and let's say they were heterosexually challenged. Not only that they were complaining about a part on the plane that was not working correctly! no argument from me here Heat except they are ok once yu get off the ground and order a couple cocktails after dealing with their ground service. Actually, some of the people in Miami are nice folks but overall they as you say s..k Title: Re: Avianca Post by: papi on March 22, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Avianca, posted by Sam Club on Mar 22, 2005
Avianca was at the bottom of the barrel in my book when it comes to customer service. Good in the air but miserable on the ground. One time, they called me at my hotel in BAQ because they made a $15 error on my ticket and wanted me to return to their offices and pay it. However, they have made much improvements over the last few months but still have a way to go as you have discovered. If you really want to see a joke, try doing business with Western Caribbean other than at an agency in LA. They dont respond to online reservations or emails Title: Re: Re: Avianca Post by: Ken2 on March 23, 2005, 05:00:00 AM ... in response to Re: Avianca, posted by papi on Mar 22, 2005
They sent my confirmation/itnenarary via e mail within 48 hours. But, Ive missed thier flights twice b/c they left early. I also had to buy first class tickets for my trip this month, I have a strange feeling (compared cheaptickets.com) they had other seats, coach, but suckered me into buying a more expensive ticket. Not with Avianca because I have only flown them once 6 years ago. But I did have the very same problem with Dutch Caribbean Airways. They couldn't send an electronic ticket so I had to pick-up the paper one when I checked-in. I imagine this problem is fairly common with smaller airlines. |
