I'm going to the DR in June.  The girl I'm meeting is different from the one I met there.  I thought it was too much to deal with: she had two children and was not able to read or write.  I thought it was too much to take on.  the girl I'm corresponding with now seems very nice and she has no children.  Anyway, I'm bumed about the long visa process.  But, I've waited this long, I suppose I can wait another year.  I met this present lady through Latinamericancupid.com It's a great site and strongly recommend it.  Hey sisko, could I get your e-mail so that I can keep in touch with you.  I'd like to keep up on your progress.  Since I'm going to be following in your footsteps....

Hey what's up Dolphin!

Right now I am SUPER excited, I am going to spend 10 days with my future wife beginning TOMORROW!  I am going to spend Holy Week down there.  A lot of the country seems to shut down during this time, she has the whole week off.  The best thing is that SHE seems to be more excited than me.  I am going to "officially" propose to her this week, its been unofficial for nearly a year now.  So she finally gets her ring.  You can reach me at b j s i s k o a t h o t m a i l d o t c o m -- (just trying not to get harvested. hahahahhaaha)

The only advice I can give you about the visa process is to make sure you set her expectations properly.  Especially if she is a professional woman.  The FAST Vermont process combined with the slow as nails Santo Domingo process nearly cost me big-time.
