From Gary Bala:
I am presently traveling in Colombia and not able to post or respond to any topics.
While here,I have been able to independently confirm some good news for people planning to get married in Colombia with civil notary. The
"special temporary visa for marriage" allowing civil marriage and previously issued by the various Colombiam Consulates to U.S. citizens has been discontinued effective Feb.01,2005 by Decree No. 4000 of 2004 of Colombian legislature and Administrative Instruction No. 1 of 2005 from Superintendent of Notaries and Mistry of Foreign Relations. This means that this visa is no longer required, and civil marriage will be that much easier.
I will post more on this important topic when I return and also update my website.
Thank you.Gary Bala
