Soltero you made a very good point that was totally applicable to the nature of public forums.

Brandon enjoy your trip.

The other issue I would like to bring up, is as follows:

The MOB process started as men searching for wives, using postal mail, then later marriage agencies and internet profiles.

With the internet becoming available and computers becoming cheaper, more and more men and women from all walks of life have become exposed to this way of meeting people. This can be a good and bad thing.

In my opinion, this has resulted in blurring the line between what is considered decent respectable ways of meeting people versus inappropriate ways of meeting people - and it leads to people trying both kinds of avenues. This is not good for sincere people looking to meet decent people of quality, and many women in the Cali agencies are becoming turned off. What's happened is that there are many guys who are into sex tourism visiting agencies, and many sex workers as members, all portraying as if they are sincerely looking for lifetime partners.
Also, there is this new trend of gringos owning modeling agencies in Cali, and securing modeling visas for girls !!! Come on, everyone knows that modeling has always been a sugar coat for prostitution. No one's dumb.  
In my opinion, this latin board has shifted far from it's purpose as a resource for helping men find latin WIVES.

Now, because of a CLICK of individuals who stay on here day after day, and "think they own the board," the latin board has become a place to discuss the following:

1.) Colombian apartments,
2.) Shooting photos of Colombian models in gringos' apartments
3.) Batman's house
4.) Gringo owned modeling agencies
5.) Calipro's expertise
6.) Malandro's antics
7.) Pete's number one girl that changes by the week
8.) etc. etc. etc.

The drawback is that it attracts the wrong type of people, and it can mislead others with less experience.

There are ALWAYS discussions here about K-1/K-3/CR-1 visa processes, visa timelines, travel visa requirements, agencies, airline flights, retirement in a spouse's country, real estate in a foreign country, international calling cards, greeting card sites, "red flags," Spanish/English translation, trip reports, hotel rates, gift-buying tips, romantic destinations, civil marriage requirements, etc. etc.  

WHERE would someone headed abroad find such stuff??      FIRST HAND knowledge, the inside scoop, strait from the horse's mouth...people who've been to these places, met the women, and--in many cases--married one of them.

There are ALWAYS discussions here about:

1 K-1/K-3/CR-1 visa processes--we doon need no stinking VISAS (unless of course, we want our latin wife to actually live with us)

2 visa timelines--hey, since we doon need no stinking visa  (see above), then we obviously don't CARE how long it would take to obtain one

3 travel visa requirements--there you go with that visa crap again--oh, this time you mean for the USA citizen to enter HER country...who cares? Darn third world places got no right to keep US out of their stinking country, right, boys?

4 agencies--I am a) a little shy b) not an experienced world traveler c) can't speak the language d) some combination of the above ---but nah, don't need no help, not ME

5 airline flights--airplanes are for sissy boys, a REAL man would obtain his seaman's card and work his way there as a deck hand--or hitchhike all the way through Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras etc.

6 retirement in a spouse's country--Who on earth ever heard of an American doing such a foolish thing as retiring in a foreign country?

7 real estate in a foreign country--don't need it, since (see above) no gringo would ever consider actually living in her country, even if a) your pension money goes 5 times as far, b) she has family there, and you don't have any family here c) (worst of all) it  might make her happy

international calling cards--a) not me, I always pay full AT&T operator assisted person to person rates. b)I have no occasion to call her while we are courting and/or waiting for her visa (oh, wait, don't need no stinking visa, see above) c) Sure as hell, I'm not going to let her call her parents after she's up here

9) greeting card sites,-- you mean send her a card for like Valentine, her birthday and Christmas? What the heck for?

10) "red flags,--Aint no more red flags--Mr. Gorbecheiv (spelling?) done tore down that wall, didn't you get the word?

11) Spanish/English translation a) Its more fun if neither of you knows what the other is saying b) She'll learn MY language, or ELSE c) I don't want to ever talk with the rest of her family anyway, it's not like they actaully deserve that respect or even that they just might be interesting people

12) trip reports--never ask anybody who's had first hand experience, it just makes you look ignorant and foolish and gives them a chance to brag at your expense

13)hotel rates--what do I care how much a hotel costs? a) my family name is Rockefeller b) I'm quite experienced at living on the street

14) gift-buying tips--never buy her anything a)  that makes her feel 'special' b) hard to obtain and/or too expensive in her country c) that might make her happy that you put so much though and effort into it

15) romantic destinations--Oh, com'on, a coke and a burger will do just fine for our first date--I might even spring for super size fries the night I 'pop the question'

16) civil marriage requirements--hey, them durn ol ferener laws don't apply to ME, I'll just walk up to the first JP or preacher we come acrost and say 'Me and the little lady want to get hitched'.
