I am waiting for approval of my I129 portion. The problem is that I cannot travel to colombia until june. Does anyone know if it is possible to change the interview date. I wrote the embassy and didn't get a response yet. I plan on posting on visa journey as well. Last question, what are some common problems couples have for getting rejected for a k-1 visa? I heard that it can be difficult to obtain. Just want to be prepared for the worst. Any ideas? curious for some input from the community.

One problem is giving the wrong purpose for the K-1.  The law reads that it must be, "solely to complete a lawful marriage."  Tell them you're planning to get to know eachother or something like that and you can be denied.  Another is not having original docs when required or not having " final judgement and decree" - a document anyone who is divorced will receive from the court. A substitute document won't cut it.

Your presence at the interview isn’t required. Can she do it herself if the interview is scheduled before June?

Some common reasons for rejection are missing requirements or fraud. If she needs some additional documentation, they will usually give her an opportunity to submit it later without denying the visa. If they catch her in any fraudulent activity or falsifying information on her application, they will likely deny her and possibly ban her from any visas in the future. Examples might be an unreported marriage that has not been legally terminated or a criminal record. A few ladies are denied because of problems with the medical exam, but it’s fairly rare. They do deny a lot of visas because of evidence that the relationship is bogus and only intended to help someone enter the U.S. illegally.

A K-1 visa is not really difficult to obtain. You just have to jump through all the right hoops.

If you are still waiting for approval of your petition, I doubt that she will be getting an interview before June anyway. The petition has to go to the NVC before it goes to the embassy and then once the embassy gets it, they send out Packet 3 to your novia. If she is slow in responding she could delay the interview since they will not schedule the interview until she returns the checklist and Part 1 of the DS-230.
